Re: Unacceptable speeds

Are the current unplanned outages in SPRINGWOOD and WINMALEE, NSW isolated to exchange connectivity, or is there an issue with the data from there to the Exetel network (through Telstra)? If so, could my issue in WARRIMOO be related?

Re: Unacceptable speeds

I'm having similar difficulties (see ticket number 8540750). In the evenings especially, speed drops to less than 1 mb/s, so quickflix and presto services stop working, and web pages generally are slow to load. I ran speed tests using speedtest.net and ozspeedtest (what happened to exetel.com.au/spe...

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

Thanks Kavinda,

Could you please provide more detail of this "planned upgrade". Is it to Telstra DSLAM backhaul systems, because I can't find any mention of my exchange (WMOO) in http://telstrawholesale.com/products/do ... e_list.xls

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

Well, several months have passed, and I still haven't noticed any improvement in bandwidth in the evening. I've pretty much given up trying to stream video in the evening, though abc iview isn't too bad. I'm wondering whether I should go back to ADSL1 8 Mbit, as I don't seem to be getting any faster...

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

We are in the process of organizing a permanent resolution for this which will not take more than 3 to 4 weeks from now on.
It's been 5 weeks now, and no sign of improvement so far. Last night was really slow - I did several tests with the Exetel meter and got less than 1 Mb/s.

That's really good news. Thanks Theje. Did you manage to convince Telstra to do some upgrading? :D

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

As you already know, maximum possible speed of an ADSL service will depend on numerous aspects. Length and quality of the copper wire (as in your case) from your place to the exchange that you are connected to, is not within the control of Exetel nor the wholesale service suppliers. As such, speeds...

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

Did some more tests this evening, over a period of 3 hours or so, and got results between 1.5 and 4.5 Mb/s with http://www.exetel.com.au/speed , so still not very good I'm afraid. The results are just not stable and reliable.

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

Thanks for your call. While we were talking, speeds (as measured by the exetel meter) were ok at around 6 Mb/s, but since then it has got worse again. I just did several tests with the exetel meter (around 10:20 PM) and the speed was down to 1.5 - 2.5 Mb/s. I don't understand this, as the modem is r...

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

You have not conducted a bandwidth test after November 11th - 2011, can you please conduct 3 random bandwidth tests and prompt me? Hi thejeg. Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by this exactly. Was the result I posted from ozspeedtest not considered to be a bandwidth test? I have done a number o...

Re: Lower than expected synch speed

Thanks Steve for your reply - unfortunately I've been a bit busy to follow it up. My modem synch speed is still the same (between 7 and 8 Mb/s) but lately my line speed has been a lot slower. Could it be the rain affecting the line? [`[*Test Results from <a href="http://www.ozspeedtest.com/bandwidth...

Lower than expected synch speed

Hi, I've just changed from 8 Mb ADSL 1 to ADS2+ (Telstra). I was expecting my synch speed to go up to at least 10 Mb based on my line attenuation, but the speed has stayed at just over 7 Mb as before. I've tried with no other connections on the line - no splitters/filters, just straight to the modem...

Re: Changing from TE-2D to TCV20-Region-200

Is there a difference between the TCV20-200 at $50 a month offered to new users and the TCV20-REGION-200 offered for $60.00 in my members facility? Why the price difference? What infrastructure do you need to be on to get these plans as I have just recently been unsuccessful in changing to a OT30 p...
