One thing I can say is that I've never actually been forced off a plan. I've always found that a better plan eventually comes along that you'll want to change to. Of course, the uncertainty is always discouraging.Augh wrote:What if I do stay on my old plan? how much longer till Exetel forces me off the plan?

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued
I must say, I'm having trouble with this. I've had several of my customers contacting me asking what the email really means. One was concerned because they "may" be moving through no fault of their own and were concerned about the ramifications of being on a new contract if they have to move in the ...

Re: Usage Meter Issue - Usage Over-Reported
Exetel engineers are looking into the issues now. I will reply the forum as soon as it is resolved. I'm not sure if this helps but, I've noticed that the issue isn't simply one of off-peak (for those on 12am-12pm off-peak), there is some curious swapping going on. At times the usage for the current...

Re: Exetel - are you kidding me
The best thing to do is alert Exetel Support to the issue by emailing residentialsupport@exetel.com.au with your details, or simply leave it a day or two as this sort of problem often gets fixed, without the need for user reports, in that timeframe and so it's not worth getting hot under the collar...

I guess it must have been somebody testing because all the figures look OK now.

Off-Peak or not off-peak
I just noticed on the "View My Service Details" page it shows the peak and off-peak periods as extending from 12-12 and it says "Downloads are currently being metered as offpeak usage" but on the detailed usage page it's showing peak from noon to 2am and off-peak from 2am to noon. As a result, I've ...

Re: June Newsletter
I'm not sure but I've seen mention of one of the worst offenders doing 1.5TB in a month, people like that don't even deserve to have internet access  That's ridiculous. I'm all for free stuff but there is a limit as to what should be free. I was quite surprised (and obviously pleased) I was a...

June Newsletter
The less than 500 or so customers that we will choose not to continue to provide services to when our contract to do so ends What volume of downloads are these people making? I miss the old days when Exetel used to list the top super-leechers, although I assume the worst saw it as some badge of hon...

Re: New ADSL1 Plans
If you elect yourself to change plans, then you get whatever plan inclusions (or lack of inclusions) the new plan has. As always, you need to weigh up the pros and cons of changing plans. This doesn't appear to be correct. I wasn't migrated (Lucky me, missed out again!) so I elected to change from ...

Re: New ADSL1 Plans
Is there a reason that the user facilities don't reflect the other plan pages? For example, the TL-AU and TL-BU plans aren't listed but the TL-AB plan is and the TL-C4 plan has an included usage figure of "mbytes". I don't think even Tel$tra would offer a plan with millibytes of included downloads f...

Re: New ADSL1 Plans
We have also begun the belated ‘Spring cleaning’ of some of the older non-current plans and we have moved some 10,000 current users to more recent plans. It looks like I wasn't part of the spring clean. I'm still on the TELG 512/128 plan with 54GB (not 60GB) in the 2AM-midday period (I saw no reaso...

Re: Practical alternatives for managing off-peak and congestion
The problem was too many people starting their downloads right on midnight, whether you have slowed them down slightly or not you contributed to the problem that forced Exetel to act and change off-peak start time to 0200. Which is exactly what I said would happen when Exetel moved the off-peak sta...

Re: Practical alternatives for managing off-peak and congestion
I think good idea would be if off-peak was maybe returned to 12 - 12 to make everyone happy, but P2P be savegely restricted until after 2AM, I'm still on 512/128. Until now I've scheduled my P2P download speed to a maximum of 30KB/s at midnight and then to 40KB/s at 2AM. That's why I never bothered...
