Re: ADSL2 Plan Changes

2) All plans will be changed from having an excess charge if a user exceeds their peak period allowance to shaping to 512 kbps down
Good news for me if if applies to the NF/21NOTEL (naked) plan, as I would prefer running at 512k to paying extra - not that we go over the peak allowance anyway.

Re: Exetel not using Local Time for metering?

Is anyone at Exetel interested in responding to this?

EDIT: Never mind. http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33811 is similar. Perhaps I did not post this in the best section.

Re: Exetel not using Local Time for metering?

In the xml produced, within "<CurrentMonthUsage>" is <UpdateDatetime>2009-10-11 21:19:30 AEDST</UpdateDatetime> It is now 21:48, so I am guessing that the UpdateDatetime was actually done at 21:19:30 AEST, not AEDST. Ignore this. I did another check, and the UpdateDatetime corresponded to a minute ...

Re: Exetel not using Local Time for metering?

Does the XML metering have daylight saving in Qld? (Use the Windows meter or Ubuntu meter to display it, both at http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewforum.php?f=16) or else (change the caps) wget --no-check-certificate https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usagemeter_xml.php?YOUR-PHONE-NUM,PASSWORD -o FILEN...

Exetel not using Local Time for metering?

I thought I read that Exetel switched to using customers' local time for metering and charging.
Here in Queensland it is 11:23. The web page says it is 12:23 and my downloads are charged at Peak.

Re: Possible Change To Off Peak Period

Either timeframes are fine for us. Either way we will not broach our 6Gb peak allowance . I suppose a 2am-2pm offpeak will allow gamers to stay up beyond midnight at high speed to play until 2am when the offpeak slowdown will hit them. I am not a gamer so I do not care. However I guess I coul...

Done. The msg seems to remain in my outbox though even after clicking the SendReply button. This seems to be a bit deceptive ... very misleading ... Beached As

Re: Whats the best way to get Naked ADSL from nothing

That is all excellent info, thanks all. The indications at http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewsuburb.php?Abbrev=STHPRT show that the location might not be on a RIM, and its near the Southport exchange so it should get good ADSL2+ there. ( http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au seems to be a useful websi...

Whats the best way to get Naked ADSL from nothing

A friend has moved into a new unit. He wants your Naked ADSL. There is no phone connected, but the line is there. What is the fastest way to get naked ADSL? I understand that a Telstra phone service needs to be connected temporarily first. I think it would be good if Exetel could handle it all, ie o...

I agree. I thought that speed would be good for ADSL2+. Are you on getting that on ADSL1?

Performance: usually not degraded here lately :-)

Exetel already shows more information about its network than any other ISP in the world. From the customer's perspective, the speed at their end and uptime must be the key performance criteria. Here are the results of a few Ozspeedtests since New Year. The y axis is line speed in kbps. http://david...

So the graphs show total traffic but do not indicate how many users that is shared between. They would be useful to users if they showed traffic per attached user.

At least its good to know that they probably do not indicate service degradation.

Interpreting your graphs: 400% degradation in a year?

Looking at the graphs in the Members Facility at https://www.exetel.com.au/members/a_network.php , eg specifically; Traffic To/From All Other ADSL1 Users Via Optus ( Link = 200mbps+): The graph seems to show a degradation of whatever the graph represents by half from 12 to about 6 months ago (mainly...
