Re: ADSL failure 30-12-2012 1-1-2013

Hi Amila,

Thank you for your prompt response. Murphy's Law strikes again - After waiting two days for action, I posted here using a borrowed internet connection. By the time I'd got back to my own machine I had a connection!! All is now good.

Cheers

ADSL failure 30-12-2012 1-1-2013

Im near Canberra. Startup early 30-1-2012 : ADSL connection OK, but no PPP. Automated phone fault reporting system advised that fault would be repaired within 2 hours. Still no good 6 hours later, but the system now carried a message saying that there was a problem in all states. No fix that day. 1-...

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued

Guys, my earlier response seems to have missed, or more probably I accidentally didn't send it.

" What exchange are you on? " HALL ACT - it's a small one, probably less than a couple of hundred subscribers, so not much interest to any service provider.

Cheers

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued

Thank you Sable. The link advises "Sorry, your ADSL2 order cannot proceed at this moment as the number you entered is not recognized as being connected to an ADSL enabled Powertel exchange." which I think means there are no free ports, as our little exchange certainly supports ADSL2. I don't think t...

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued

Thanks again for your assistance ForumAdmin. You say : "A-PAYU is an unbundled ADSL2+ option that uses your exisitng Telstra line. So you pay Telstra for line rental, and then pay Exetel $25/month + $2 per GB for ADSL2 (not sure why you don't see the "per GB" amount, but it is there on the main Exet...

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued

ForumAdmin, thank you for your prompt response re an anomolous $2 fee tacked onto my bill each month. I'll certainly talk to billing as you suggest. It's been going on so long now that I must be owed at least a month's free access! re your suggestion to look at PAYU options - I'm limited to a Telstr...

Re: Price Increase For Out Of Contract Customers - Continued

This change for me results in going from a nominal $48, (actual $50 for reasons never explained) to (presumably) $60 on my present TE-K plan (10 GB + 20 GB offpeak). That's a 20% increase. Or, I could change to a T8-30 plan and pay $65 (which is probably $67 in fact) for 30GB plus 180 GB off peak. S...

Re: Sudden surge of spam through 3 of my mail addresses

Thanks again Dazzle. Looks a if ???@exetel.com.au is being targetted at the moment. Fortunately the subject line makes them easy to identify. Just a nuisance provided we don't click the link. One wonders at the motivation of some people. I don't see any way of getting Firefox to filter them. Cheers ...

Re: Sudden surge of spam through 3 of my mail addresses

Thanks Dazzle. Appreciate your prompt response. Some of my email addresses are based on real words and names, so maybe I am exposed as you say. I'll look into training Firefox to recognise such stuff. Any suggestions will be very welcome :P The following is the source from one of the emails. : From ...

Sudden surge of spam through 3 of my mail addresses

Hi, Over the last few days, I've started receiving spam, 3 today coming through 3 (so far!) of my 4 mailboxes. All from gobbledegook names at yahoo or hotmail, simply telling me how much money the sender has made at home and with a link to Business Week Journal. There are only two names (always diff...
