Re: Problems with Mac Mail

If you haven't got telnet on a Mac terminal, try nc (short for netcat) in a terminal instead. Usage as a telnet substitute is similar.

The ASCII conversation is what the various GUI mail clients are doing out of sight.

Re: Problems with Mac Mail

If you send mail using SMTP on port 25 (only) there is no password or encryption. The server checks that you are using an Exetel address instead. If you want to see how the protocol works, I described how to send email from a terminal at https://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=45932&p=33164...

Re: Router log. What does this error mean, the internet keeps dropping.

You are looking at abbreviated information read from a Linux system log. Routers are Linux computers, though with most of the facilities and utilities found in a general purpose computer removed to minimise memory requirements. Linux logs just about everything that happens. Daemon (2nd col) is a fac...

Re: Urgently need help.

It's a pity the unit doesn't have telnet access for problems like this. There's only a simple Linux machine inside.

Re: NF4V Voip Issues

I can only suggest you check the system log. I am not sure if that model gives you access It may only say that the internal VoIP application has dropped, which isn't helpful. You might get an allocation error before that. Log messages are terse and cryptic, devised by system programmers.. That is pr...

Re: constant ringing

I have seen this too. I "fixed" it (ie made it less annoying) by changing the ring tone on the handset to one with varying volume.

Re: EMAIL ISSUES OUTLOOK 2020

The search could be for "Outlook error RCPT". You'll get plenty of answers. I described the process used in communicating with the server in a DOS prompt box in a post at https://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=45932&start=15 You can see the use of RCPT TO and DATA commands there. This is w...

Re: EMAIL ISSUES OUTLOOK 2020

It isn't a problem with the mail server, it's a problem with Microsoft. Outlook is putting the commands to the server in the wrong order, and an error return results. (The computer to server mail conversation is in plain text, and was designed in the days of terminals, not windowed graphic systems -...

It will recognise the ethernet signal cable inserted in the WAN port. Enter the router (http://192.168.0.1 from memory), and admin log into it.. The WAN setup "must use ethernet". On the Basic menu Provider can be other, but use encapsulation PPPOE and add the user name and password you have been se...

Re: Internal drop outs

A few thoughts: 1.. Is the configuration correct? Did it begin when you changed? Check this first, before you decide the device has a hardware fault. 2. Is it overheating? It might be as simple as better ventilation, or it could be a failure. 3. What sort of pings can you get between two machines on...

Re: VOIP Setup for D-Link DVA2800

Here's a D-Link DVA2800 solution from another ISP's customer - http://users.on.net/~alanholder/modem/fixed.jpg

Replace the internode address with sip1.exetel.com.au. You could consider 3600 registration expiry time. Your user name is the ten digit phone number.

A common problem in Covid-19 times. Can your router QOS feature limit upload bandwidth from her computer?
