Re: Intermittent NBN in Bondi Beach - so what's new

I'll leave it to staff to look into the details of the trouble, but there is a significant difference between here and Chicago - there it was a large company that ran the system. Here it is a large government instrumentality, the NBN, who runs the distribution.

Re: NetComm NF18ACV Dec 2018 Firmware

Most of these devices have a Linux OS stored and arranged that way. It is copied across at boot, so this method is a good idea for all types.

Re: Is there a currently working usage meter?

Speaking as the author of at least one of the meters.... The old facility depended on logging into an XML data page read by sending the name/password pair in the URL as a GET request. Exetel considered this as insufficiently secure and discontinued the service. It could be revived in a secure manner...

Re: Exetel new VoIP Platform

This question has been asked a couple of times now, with no reply as yet.

The holiday season means an increase in travelling, and users are concerned about the security of VoIP registration. Have the changes affected this?

Re: Voip registration from OS IP address

It is a serious problem to watch for. I know of a case where a traveller was caught out after 3 days staying at different hotels in Japan using a wireless tablet. The account was hijacked and in a couple of days ran up a huge number of mobile phone calls to and from different Middle-Eastern numbers ...

Re: Voip registration from OS IP address

If you do arrange for the account to be enabled from abroad, check your usage frequently. There is an industry stealing VOIP login credentials for illicit use from some other countries, and you could run up a large bill unknowingly.

Re: Sites blocked - access denied error

If I connect using curl in the terminal instead of a browser with the --trace-ascii option to record the GET conversation, the result is that www.woolworths.com.au on port 80 returns a 301 redirection error from AkamaiGHost. Redirection is to https://www.woolworths.com.au on port 443. I obtain the f...

Re: port 5060 in use ?

How is the router set to handle incoming signals on 5060? Have all packets been forwarded to the one device only?

Re: Email Hoax being circulated to Exetel users

Display the header and message in plain text. The Received: fields in the header will show the path this has taken to reach you. The true destination of the link will also be revealed. If you have sent your password inadvertently go to the User Facility and change them. I'm not sure what you actuall...

Re: Set up folders in mail for Windows 10

Did you try the troubleshooting tips at the bottom of the linked page? (No + button) The mail server simply sends out a stream of text messages to your computer whenever it is requested. You don't even need a mail client for this, and in the early days of computing we didn't use one. It is the softw...

Re: Cannot connect to us.battle.net

An extra comment: Windows tracert isn't the tool to trace this route. It is asymmetrical, and the servers won't reply to the packet. On the other hand the server will reply to a TCP traceroute. Any Linux machine can handle this for you. I got 210 ms at hop 16 this morning.

Re: ZTE H268A security issue

It affects Busybox according to my reading. This is the stripped-down Linux interface you will find if you enter by telnet. Later infestations in the device attack controllers. The suggested fix for the system is a factory reset (which replaces the working system including Busybox) and password chan...

Re: VOIP using computer and headphones only?

I think your best option is another cordless handset. Then all handsets will be connected to the same VoIP account, and all will ring together. First to pick up gets the call. Only one at a time can ring out If you run a soft phone on the same account as the present phone you will have a problem in ...
