Re: No internet except Exetel? (BNE)

I have just logged a fault with Exetel support. I spoke with Janaka who was unaware of any issues that should be causing this, and he said that he would speak with a network technician about it. As I type this, my connectivity has returned. He called me back to confirm whether my service was restore...

Re: No internet except Exetel? (BNE)

Southside Brisbane here. I have no connectivity except for exetel.com.au. I have tried alternate DNS servers (google & OpenDNS) however dns does not appear to be the problem. The names are resolving to IP addresses but I cannot reach those IPs via a ping.

Re: Latest UK Moves Against Copyright Breaches

FA, it's good that this discussion has come back to law, not morals A life lived without morality and ethics is not a life at all. To pretend that a commercial enterprise can be robbed with impunity because it suits an individual is the end of any reasonable society. Copyright infringement is a CIV...

Re: Practical alternatives for managing off-peak and congestion

First let me just state that I am a little bummed to find out about these changes to off peak. I do not often visit the Exetel forums as I find no need to do so while my service is working. I also requested to not recieve emails from Exetel after I recieved a few "opinion piece" emails which had not...

Re: Mandatory content filtering. Internet Censorship and the ISP

If changes are made that may impact your service, appropriate notifications may be sent, depending on legal requirements / management discretion. I'm not privileged to the higher levels of the Exetel network that you are seeking information to. As far as I am aware, the federal government has not c...

Re: Real End To Internet Copyright Theft?

Do we ban people from using the phone system for making nuisance calls or arranging criminal activity via telephone? Do we lay charges on account holders without the due process of the courts based on the caller ID of a telephone call? How many parents do you know who are not IT professionals that h...

Re: Australian ISPs Caught Lying About P2P Constraints?

Cool, thats what I was wondering. So that being the case, I believe there needs to be a lot more sample data to draw conclusions from these results. 25-35 is a little patchy.

Re: Australian ISPs Caught Lying About P2P Constraints?

One other thing I am curious about, and I'm sure you guys can tell me. How do you shape a user down to 64kbit when they have chosen this option? Does that process involve these artificial disconnects? What TCP does when a packet is dropped (or rather, when no ACK is received), is the basis on which...

Re: Is Billion well-known / popular or not?

I'm running a Billion 7404 variant and it has been excellent. I did have some gripes with some of the earlier firmwares, but this is something you would be hard pressed not to come across in any brand of router. The beauty of them is I can do my own shaping on flatmates if they youtube too much :D.

Re: Australian ISPs Caught Lying About P2P Constraints?

The Vuze file does mention that their own results are not conclusive at the moment due to the very small sample from each ISP, especially relevant when you inspect figures from Australian ISPs. 35 samples from Bigpond, 11 from Exetel, 36 from iiNet and 25 from TPG. Is this enough to constitute concl...

Re: Stealing Other People's Property

1) If these people have such "proof" and are so sure of their accusations or whatever, why are they trying to get Exetel to do their dirty work ???, let them "Step Up" and chase it up themselves directly with the people they assert are doing it, 2) also the 100 members figure, if it indeed is happe...

Thanks for your replies topcs. It looks like another user is commenting on his own issues which where different to mine which may be confusing. Yes the number was connected to a telstra exchange, dialing that number from the phone read back the proper service number. I believe the issue was that my ...

Naked ADSL2+ rejected due to inactive number - Number active

Hi, I have recently applied for a new naked dsl connection through Exetel. Today I received a text message and email stating that the application was rejected due to the number either not being active or not being connected to a telstra exchange. I have noticed that when i put the number into the ex...
