Change mobile plan mid month
Hi, This month I am about to massively exceed my mobile usage limits, which will possibly cost me hundreds of dollars. This was not foreseeable, my first child was unexpectedly born premature, he was not meant to be born until December, plus I also moved interstate this month, the combination of the...

Data reactivation after global roaming disabled
For the third time in a row, after returning home from overseas, and disabling global roaming, mobile data has not been reactivated for my account. I'm going to have to create yet another support ticket to get it activated. What's the go? In future, should I just not bother disabling global roaming,...

Re: WebSockets on Optus Network
Sorry, I should have been clear.
I'm referring to mobile broadband. Specifically, I'm using the Optus "Internet" APN.

WebSockets on Optus Network
Hi, I don't know what posting here can or will achieve, but somehow someone somewhere needs to let Optus know that they are preventing modern web applications from working on their network. I'm sure Exetel engineers have a much better opportunity than I do, though I wouldn't be surprised if they sti...

International Roaming Invoicing
Hi, I just received my weekly Exetel usage summary, and I am overseas so I've been using roaming a little bit. In my usage summary, I see this: International Roaming | 13 | 120 | $12.20 What does that mean? 13 of what? 120 of what? By my calculations, the costs look about right compared to my usage,...

Temporary Mobile Broadband connection while waiting
I would pay a premium if Exetel offered temporary mobile broadband connections while waiting to get connected. I've just applied, my application has been rejected, now I need to get a Telstra service person out to connect my place, then I'm going to have to apply again, wait again etc etc. All the w...
IPv6
The intertubes are buzzing with people saying we have less than a year to implement IPv6: http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/less-than-a-year-until-internet-addresses-run-dry-20100726-10r83.html I found the FAQ forum post that said that Exetel have done upstream trials. But I'm wonderi...

Hi Exetel, With the internet filtering I've always thought it was stupid waste of money because it's like putting a broken 10m 1 foot high fence across a 100m field, there are so many ways around it, through it, and over it. However, although there is a dark haze over what will actually and won't ac...

Thankyou
Just wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised by the John Lintons most recent email, such honesty and transparency is exactly why I choose Exetel and why I encourage everyone I know to choose Exetel.

Non P2P users
Dear Exetel, Totally hypothetically speaking, let's say Exetel had two pipes... two connections to the internet. Customers would be able to select which one they used as part of their plan. On one of the pipes would be one of those nifty bittorrent detecting boxes, though it wouldn't just shape bitt...

Re: ADSL2 Unlimited Plans (For Exetel Users Only)
I'm a "loyal Exetel customer", my loyalty has nothing to do with the types of plans that Exetel provides, though they are very good, or the price of plans that Exetel provides, though they are very good. My loyalty comes from the honesty and transparency that Exetel uses in its day to day business, ...

GMail treats Exetel helpdesk emails as spam
In case this is of any interest to Exetel staff, emails from the Exetel helpdesk system to me were treated as spam by GMail. I unmarked it as spam, not sure if that will bring it to the attention of Google engineers.

Re: New Naked ADSL connection, no username or password
Hi Jason, I assume you used my IP address to determine my account? I posted that topic from my old Exetel account... I've just moved out of my last place, and my old flatmates are keeping the old Exetel connection. The modem/router is mine, and they haven't got a new one yet, so I took mine, plugged...

New Naked ADSL connection, no username or password
So, I've just got a new naked ADSL2 connection set up, the modem syncs fine. However, in the email sent to me from Exetel, the username and password I'm told to use is blank, this is from the email:
Am I missing something?ADSL / members facilities Username:

Mac OSX VoIP Software
I'm about to sign up to Exetel naked ADSL, and don't have a VoIP router or phone, at least initially I'll be using my Mac as a phone, and see how that goes. Anyone want to shed some light on the various Mac OSX VoIP clients out there? I'll try a few and document my findings here once I've found some...
