Re: Exetel Network Congestion

In mid-April I started to become aware of slow evening download speeds on my ADSL2+ service via Hurstville exchange ( about 3km distance). Speed testing showed they were around 50% - 60% of daytime speeds which drops my download speed to the point where I get choppy videos, dropouts on streaming int...

Re: Where are the network graphs?

You can see more graphs peered through IX NSW by double-clicking on a graph. This gives daily, weekly, monthly and yearly loads, with different time averaging. The Exetel graphs can be reached directly: http://monitor.nsw.ix.asn.au/cacti/graph.php?action=view&rra_id=all&local_graph_id=352 The effect...

Re: Where are the network graphs?

The SMH was able to get hold of an Exetel usage graph for this article:

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digi ... mdc1i.html

But Extel users aren't allowed to see them.

Re: Significant drop in speed

Fine, but why do we have to search through the forums to find this out? Why isn't it posted on the Current Services Status dashboard as a network status fault, even if it was only for a short time, stating which links failed, who was affected and for how long? There should be a standard Exetel polic...

Re: Off Peak Periods

Hows about "roll over peak quota".. Froma marketing perspective no other carrier offers this feature.. I agree with woodwa, rolling over unused peak allowance to the next month's by being able to use it up in a defined currently low demand period (eg 12noon-2pm) would support lower usage customers ...

Thanks Dazzled, I had already tried downloading the pdf and this didn't work either. But Foxit opened the file, so this was a good tip.

Re: Set up guide for the NB9WMAXX

The NB9W MAXX is pretty much similar to the NB9W the following is the newer and update to date guide for setting up voip for the NB9WMAXX. http://www.exetel.com.au/voip_pdf/nb9wMaxx.pdf Something seems to be wrong with this pdf; it loads five pages but won't render in Adobe pdf Reader 9.1.2 (Error ...

Re: NB9WMAXX - high downstream error rate on powerup

Thanks for the advice. Corey is right, I should try to borrow someone's' line first. If I can't I will try GreyFox's suggestion.

NB9WMAXX - high downstream error rate on powerup

My NB9WMAXX (bought late last year) needs about 60-90 minutes powered on from cold and then be soft rebooted or power cycled to work properly. Until this reboot or cycle, as per the modem diagnostics, the downstream error rate ((#RS correctable errors + #RS uncorrectable errors)/#RS words) is about ...

Re: Set up guide for the NB9WMAXX

I think it would be worthwhile also noting for newbies to VoIP like me that QoS should also be set up, and how to do it, as this improves VoIP. The NB9WMAXX manual Rev 1 describes the set up for QoS -see p47 and pp 58-59. Incidentally I think the example in the manual on p59 is wrong when it uses TC...

Re: Set up guide for the NB9WMAXX

I can answer my own question - yes you can use a double adaptor on the Phone 1 line and it works just the same as on a straight POTS line.
