Re: How to connect e160 modem to existing router?

As the others have said, a new router is the easiest and cheapest way. I looked at non-router devices that I could connect to my existing router and then connect the USB modem, and they were a lot more expensive. Personally, I'm using the Netgear MBR624GU which has generally worked well for me. (Occ...

Re: Prepaid HSPA Plans??

just to revive this thread... what does happen if you recharge early? and can you just prebuy lots of data each month? I have a need for lots of wireless data (say 50gb/month) and recharging prepaid seems the cheapest way to go. aslong as you can recharge lots of times/month and there is no loss of...

Re: Which router to use with E169

I'm using the Netgear MBR624GU with an E169. It was quite easy to set up and has been working well generally. Occasionally it seems to lose the connection to the USB modem, but removing and reinserting the modem into the modem holder (basically a fancy USB extension cable with stand so the modem sta...

Re: What to do with old Exetel/Unwired modem?

Recycle it. That's what Amateur Radio does!! :D Actually, that would be re-using, which is higher up the hierarchy (i.e. better) than recycling. That said, failing any other option it would go to e-waste recycling, not general waste - landfill isn't the right place for all the lovely chemicals in c...

What to do with old Exetel/Unwired modem?

I just cancelled my Exetel/Unwired service, I've moved across to HSPA - so now I've got an old Unwired modem. Not much point selling it as Exetel don't offer the service to new customers , and Exetel doesn't buy back the modem. Any smart/interesting/creative ideas for what to do with it? (I can sell...

Re: Mini Exetel Usage Meter now Available

Does the Mini Exetel Usage Meter support prepaid HSPA? I've noticed that it supports regular (postpaid) HSPA but haven't been able to get it to work with my prepaid account.

(I've finally made the switch from Exetel/Unwired to Exetel/HSPA.)

Thanks

Re: One question about Wireless

Wireless LAN is different to wireless broadband. Wireless LAN is completely under your control, not Exetel's, and there is nothing Exetel can do (or needs to do) to enable you to use it. Wireless broadband is where the connection between Exetel and your house is wireless - rather than having an ADSL...

Exetel/Unwired service to discontinue?

Hi. I saw the ZDNet article Unwired loses favour with Exetel today. (edited for brevity) Local internet service provider Exetel today said it might stop reselling Unwired's pre-WiMax wireless broadband service as it inked a deal to provide 3G mobile broadband services through Optus. Until now, Exete...

Re: V1.0.6.1 Mini Extel usage meter not working

Postscript: I've been told by Exetel that they don't support the scripts used to get the usage information (i.e. usagemeter.php/usagemeter_xml.php). I'm going to contact Critter to ask him to update Net Usage Item to scrape data from the official Usage Meter page instead of the XML feed; hopefully T...

Re: V1.0.6.1 Mini Extel usage meter not working

Hi, Problem now fixed, seems the the older version usage meters the user name was "phone number@nsw.exetel.com.au" which worked (I still use this to log into members area, still works there), and was originally user name given to me when I signed with Exetel. So when setting up new usage meters bei...

No, not yet. I IM'd Raymond but it looks like he hasn't been on the message board since then so hasn't received it. Just tried emailing him.

Re: V1.0.6.1 Mini Extel usage meter not working

I'd appreciate help too, I'm having the same issue. I posted about it about a week ago but haven't heard anything.

The same problem affects Toid's meter application and Critter's Firefox plugin meter.

usagemeter.php not working

I'm having problems with the usagemeter.php script. It's not showing any information - just an error message "error=Incorrect User/Pass" no matter what I put in. I tried it with the correct password for the member facilities, and also with the literal text password instead. i.e. neither https://www....
