Re: Optus 3G/HSPA coverage on NSW Central Coast
I am not giving up. I tried Linphone and am pleased with it compared to CSIP but unfortunately it has no G729 which is just unfortunate. There is talk of an open-source G729 but it will be some time before that happens. However, I now have Acrobits Softphone which DOES have G729. This coincides with...

Re: Optus 3G/HSPA coverage on NSW Central Coast
Hi again When HTC did an OTA upgrade of my handset to Android 2.3.5, I found after it had finished that the little VoIP connectivity I formerly had was now gone. I couldn't successfully make or receive SIP calls no matter what I did. In frustration, I downgraded the handset to Froyo 2.2 and then ins...

Re: VOIP Rates USA - What Tel# for "High" & "Ultra High"
Actually, it works this way:
All the numbers start with "1". This just means it's long-distance (std)
The next 3 digits are the area code.
The last 3 digits are the exchange prefix.
After that comes xxxx the last 4 digits of the 7-digit USA phone number.
That's all there is to it.

Re: Optus 3G/HSPA coverage on NSW Central Coast
Ok, I'm getting a bit tired of this. There isn't any fault, so why keep trying to chase one? There isn't enough signal to support a VoIP connection unless I'm standing under a cell tower. But worse than that, there isn't even enough 3G signal to make a cellular call at my GF's place. I'm there now a...

Re: Optus 3G/HSPA coverage on NSW Central Coast
I'm sorry, I didn't see this until just now. I didn't raise a fault ticket for this, because I don't consider it a fault as such; it's a chronic inability to get a good connection. It is rare that I can get enough signal to support a VoIP connection. However, I can give you my girlfriend's address: ...

Optus 3G/HSPA coverage on NSW Central Coast
I have had my service running for 8 or 9 months now, using my HTC Desire HD high-end handset and the CSipSimple VoIP Android program. While I can say that it works in principle, I can only verify that it works usably if I am standing underneath a cell tower. I live at Green Point, near Gosford, and ...

Re: edge and gprs on Android phone using MOIP
Hey guys, I am experiencing the same trouble as Granny1. I set CSIPSimple to "Always On" and it keeps setting itself to "WiFi only" and it keeps turning GPRS and EDGE on again after I turned them off. I've just been in USA for the last 2 months and didn't use 3G or any part of the phone at all (no r...

Re: How Fix VOIP faster speed under HSPA Mobile 3G connectio
@myo007: It would help if you could tell us what handset you are trying to use VoIP on, and what VoIP client software you are running. I have an HTC Desire HD which is an Android handset and it is running CSipSimple which you can get from the Market. If you have a Windows or Symbian (Nokia) phone, t...

Re: One-way audio on mobile calls using csipsimple on Desire
Hi Baldrick, are you still listening? The one-way audio, although it sometimes still happens, isn't a major problem anymore. But I get people complaining that I sound like I'm standing under a waterfall, or somebody is using a riveter nest to me, or there is a train going by. All the time, I am hear...

global roaming
Hi
I am going to USA next week. How do I enable my HSPA SIM card so that at least the phone/SMS part of it will work over there? I understand data roaming charges are astronomical, all I want to do is send/receive sms, really. For VoIP I will have to use my sister's WiFi.

Re: One-way audio on mobile calls using csipsimple on Desire
Well, I tried installing imsdroid again and still couldn't get it to register. Btw, the version I've got is the same as the one on the developer's site. Anyhow, it's a work in progress and not really up to the job yet. I reinstalled the 0.16 version I had going before and found no change, other than...

Re: One-way audio on mobile calls using csipsimple on Desire
Hi Baldrick Can you tell me what build no. you used? I remember being in the developer's repository and there were quite a few to pick from. I suppose most of them have bugs, though minor ones perhaps. As for the codecs, csipsimple doesn't have G.711 but it does have pcma and pcmu, which I think are...

One-way audio on mobile calls using csipsimple on Desire HD
Hi Guys I've set up csipsimple with my Exetel voip account and it seems to work really well, except when I ring a mobile number, or one rings me (it doesn't seem to make any difference which way), the other party can hear me, but I can't hear them. It doesn;'t seem to matter if the connection is wit...

USA call charges - What's going on?
What determines whether a call to USA is USA, USA-High or USA-Ultra High? Why should there be any difference? My sister lives in Blaine, Washington, on the Canadian border. I used to call her for $0.02 per minute. Now it's costing me $0.09 per minute. What has changed? When did this happen? Why didn...

Re: Exetel VOIP to Exetel VOIP
If you set up your SIP client/ATA for IP dialling, then you should be able to call anybody whose SIP number and IP address you know, for free.
