Re: Keeping phone number active during ADSL -> NBN conversio

Just a late followup on my NBN conversion.
* 8/5 NBN activated
* 16/5 VOIP conversion

So the phone was down for ~9 days, which wasn't too bad.

Re: Keeping phone number active during ADSL -> NBN conversio

Well after doing some investigating on whether I could keep the phone number active by going elsewhere (Optus seems to be 10 bus days outage, Telstra ? - didn't want an overpriced 24mon contract), I've stayed with Exetel and did the application on Friday over the phone. I just got an SMS indicating ...

Keeping phone number active during ADSL -> NBN conversion

As I understand it, once ADSL/POTS in disconnected, NBN is usually connected quite quickly (within hours); however, porting your telephone onto NBN/VOIP can be hit and miss (some people take 1 day, some take 5 weeks! ) - talking to my brother, it's been ~1 week with a home phone that does not actual...

are there known ADSL problems at BLRO exchange?

I'm on Boolaroo exchange in Newcastle. Can anyone tell me if there is a known problem for some connections on that exchange? REASON: My (Optus based) ADSL has been down since SAT 20/6 ~10pm, but phone is working OK. Asking around the nearby neighbourhood, it seems a few other people's internet is al...

Re: slow downloads from overseas (BLRO NSW)

Well it seems to have made an improvement - I'm now downloading at ~900 kB/s again. I will continue to monitor - stats seem fine so far too (better SNR but slightly lower sync, but no matter about that). Thanks. Line Coding (Trellis) On On SNR Margin (0.1 dB) 71 154 Attenuation (0.1 dB) 420 244 Outp...

slow downloads from overseas (BLRO NSW)

Following this thread, https://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=284&t=41701 What the recommendation to get things working again? I reset modem yesterday and that didn't seem to fix anything - I'm still downloading from overseas sites at 5kB/s (eg. uploaded.net - but local sites seem fine ~900 kB/...

Re: problem with telephone meter?

Well the telephone meter is still totally stuffed for me, so I've basically given up hope of it getting fixed - let's just hope what I've billed is actually correct. ----- I really shouldn't bother wasting my time doing this, but here are some problems I see my the website billing (now with pictures...

problem with telephone meter?

I'm getting confused with this new metering and billing system. I want to check some previous bills so people can pay for some international calls etc. I go here https://www.exetel.com.au/myexetel/phone/view_telephone_services_usage/0249xxxxxx and look at 2014-07-14 bill for example - and it says: L...

Re: Lowering SNR to improve line speed

if you can manually adjust the snr settings on your modem (dunno if your model allows it), then you can probably get better speeds. i have a billion 7800vdpx and i set snr=1 and i get these stats: Downstream Upstream Line Coding (Trellis) On On SNR Margin (0.1 dB) 70 137 Attenuation (0.1 dB) 420 242...
