Flaky reception
I live 1km from the centre of Chatswood (albeit down a hill, so no line-of-sight) and normally get reliable 4G coverage with at least a few bars of reception. However, for the past few weeks it has been 1 bar, regular swapping to 3G and many calls dropping out. I have configured the Mobile Data to u...

Group messages
Hi, We use Exetel to send messages for a business application. Generally works pretty well, but when we send to a group and we get the message ID in the form 9-9aa999-yyyy-mm-dd the messages tend not to get through, and when they do they are certainly not delivered in a timely way. The status messag...

SMTP server on blacklist
Hi, When I send emails using the SMTP server smtp.nsw.exemail.com.au I receive the following response: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(e...

Overseas calls garbled
All overseas calls I make are clear while the call is ringing, then become garbled when answered. No problems with domestic calls. Any suggestions what the issue may be?

Re: Some calls go straight to voicemail
Looks like there was an extra registration on the SIP server for my account that was causing the issue. I'm not sure how it got there or why it didn't eventually timeout, but support engineer killed my registrations and it seems to have fixed the error.

Re: Some calls go straight to voicemail
Thanks for the input. Engineers had a look and everything looks normal at the server end. I have plugged a handset into the router to take the firewall and softphone out of the picture and confirm this eliminates the issue. I'll post results.

Some calls go straight to voicemail
About a quarter of VOIP calls I receive go straight to voicemail without the phone ringing. The first I know about these calls is when I receive the voicemail message by email. I have no other issues making or receiving calls. I use a Bria3 softphone, which shows no evidence of the missed calls. Any...

1300 inbound service
Hi, Can anyone fill me in on how the routing works with your 1300 inbound service? For example: - How many numbers can we route to? - Can the routing be set up using time-of-day rules? eg. route to the office during business hours or a mobile out of hours - Can we control the routing throught the Me...

Re: VOIP hang-ups
There is a Network setting in the Advanced Options of X-Lite 3.0 that reads "In times of network disruption, automatically hang up calls after..." The default setting is enabled and the time selected is 30 seconds. I have disabled this option and so far have not had a call hung up. I have made no ch...

VOIP hang-ups
Hi, just in the last few days, many of my VOIP calls have been hung up after about 30 seconds. Occurred 7 or 8 times when I was calling the US and I figured it was just the number I was calling, but the problem recurred today when making a local call. Have not had this problem once in the last year ...

Difference between HSPA plans
Hi, I recently changed my mobile plan to the new CAP35 Optus plan, which I though could also replace my Wireless Broadband plan. I have found two issues: - my IP address when using this service is not the fixed 220.233.x.x address I have been assigned (I get a dynamic 64.255.x.x address) - the downl...

Re: Caller can't hear me when they dial my VOIP DID
Thanks CoreyPlover.... that seems to be the problem. I understand the "signalling" is initiated by my PC, so the modem routes that traffic with no dramas, but the "audio" that carries my voice is initiated from the other end, so I need to forward every port under the sun from my modem to my PC to ma...

Caller can't hear me when they dial my VOIP DID
Hi, I did the most basic setup of my VOIP service using the X-Lite softphone. Works beautifully, except when people dial my DID number they can't hear anything I say. I have checked the obvious stuff: mic worrk because I can call out with no dramas and I checked my mic isn't muted. Where should I lo...
