NBN frequent dropouts requiring router reboot

Hi I'm on the 25/5Mbps FTTN plan for several months now. Speed is generally OK at around 22Mbps, however recently I'm getting fequent disconnects that require me to reboot the NF4V router (approximatly once per week). I have recently added a couple of smarthome devices - wireless IP cams with sensor...

slow speeds again

I'm getting really annoyed - it seems I need to log a call about once every few weeks as I either have no connection or slow speed. I'm getting around 0.3Mbps download speed this morning and I am trying to work from home using Citrix - it sucks! Can someone pls get in touch asap. I've tried calling ...

Re: slow upload speed ADSL 2

Hi angelos, yes it's from this number (recently sent to you in pm). Thanks very very much for your speedy response! I have reset and retested - uploads are now around 0.6Mbps which is much better. I'm not sure though what I should expect to get? I've read that you really need around 1Mbps upload for...

slow upload speed ADSL 2

I'm getting 5Mbps download speed which is OK, however upload is around 0.3Mbps.
I never really paid much attention to upload speed before but this seems slow and people are saying my video drops out on Facetime.
Should I be getting higher than this?

Re: No connection Umina Beach

Adapters like yours don't give much trouble - these require a filter on the phone connection and no filter on the modem cable. Thanks dazzled. Does this statement mean that in my first photo above this is the correct way i.e. modem direct to the wall socket and phone going through filter with ADSL ...

Re: No connection Umina Beach

Thank you. Would it be easy enough to convert the old wall socket to the newer RJ11 type and keep the existing wiring?

Re: No connection Umina Beach

Thanks angelos, yes it's connecting now and getting a line speed of around 3Mbps. I'll see how it goes. I sent the following photos to Exetel showing my line socket, which is the older 610 I believe with and RJ11 double adaptor. Could you please advise the best way to connect the modem and corded ph...

No connection Umina Beach

I have dropout issues the past 2 days. Wife lost half a days income yesterday. Spent over an hour to Exetel support last night. Was working OK but there's no authentication this morning. Can't ring outside of hours. Both of us supposed to be working from home today. Can anyone help? This is not sati...

Local + Global Roaming Data Service

In the user facilities under Global Roaming there is a setting for "Local + Global Roaming Data Service".
Should be this be set to 'on' or 'off' if I don't want global roaming data enabled? The word 'local' has me confused.

no connection, loss of income, no response

My connection dropped out some time yesterday 4/7. After waiting 30 mins I got through to Exetel support on Fri evening. He was unable to fix the problem and took my number saying he would call back. He never did. I explained that my wife works from home on Sat morn and is totally reliant on a worki...

Re: TP Link W8980 - ethernet slower than wifi

Thanks Dazzled. Those settings seems to match with what I already had. I ran the quick setup again just to make sure. The speed is still the same though - 3.5Mbps with the cable and 5.5Mbps wireless. I checked the driver on tmy Realtek NIC and that seems OK. (I'm running XP on the desktop). I still ...

TP Link W8980 - ethernet slower than wifi

Hi I have just installed a new TP Link w8980 modem router. I just used the setup CD supplied, and entered my modem username and password, and it installed OK. However, after doing several speed tests I am getting around 3.5 Mbps on the desktop with a wired ethernet cable. On the laptop (or indeed th...

If I get a new 4G handset will it automatically pick up 4G (where available) if I'm on the older M15 plan?

Re: 900MHz Vs 2100MHz WCDMA

900 is used outside metro areas; https://www2.optus.com.au/ Yes I've seen that map. The problem is that it doesn't differentiate between 900 and 2100MHz i.e. the yellow 3G area could be either. So if the phone doesn't support 900MHz is there any way of determining whereabouts within the yellow area...

900MHz Vs 2100MHz WCDMA

I recently acquired a new JiaYu G4 phone and I believe it only supports 2100MHz WCDMA (as well as GSM). I've noticed that the 3G signal often drops back to 2G on the train outside Sydney. What I'd like to know is given the lack of 900MHz on the handset, am I going to be significantly limited in wher...
