Re: International VOIP Charges

This talks about the variety of UK numbers, as charged locally - http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/files/2010/01/numbering.pdf Ordinary numbers are only 2c. Have just read that PDF file - that is amazing and totally daft, I hope we don't go down that path. I do remember they have no local calls all cal...

International VOIP Charges

This is not a complaint and I know I can purchase special packs to reduce these charges however... I rarely make international calls but I was looking at the VOIP International Charges and I noticed a big discrepancy between the charges to the three countries that on those rare occasions I call. Nam...

Re: Help with Draytek Vigor 2920Vn Setup

Hi Bruce, It seems like you have copy-pasted the login details from the email and have copied an extra space at the end as well. We're getting the following username to authenticate and since it is not correct, authentication fails. Username our server receives: 02xxxxxxx6%20 Correct username: 02xx...

Help with Draytek Vigor 2920Vn Setup

I have a new NBN fibre line and have transferred my land line to Exetel VOIP. I thought I had set it up correctly but currently the VOIP is not registering. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aVumvcvkU3k/Ux-jZo9dsxI/AAAAAAAAAWw/wgYZYUQzbX0/s640/Ashampoo_Snap_2014.03.12_10h26m17s_001_.jpg This is the...

NBN Power

I have just had the NBN installed - no problems. Impressed actually - SMS Wednesday night for installation next day, system running Friday morning. I decided long ago to get rid of my land line, I rarely use it because the mobile phone is cheaper and portable so am getting the old number ported to V...

Help Desk Login

I tried to open a ticket today but while I got to the Help Desk log in page successfully I had to move to Internet Explorer to make it work. It didn't work with Firefox 16.0.2 and Win7. Just thought you should know.

Fibre Coming - what next?

The NBN is being installed in my area as I type and is supposed to be complete within 12 months, hopefully quicker. I want to take up the Internet but with the fibre I presume my wired connection for my land line goes and is replaced. According to the local MP (Stephen Jones) line rental is a thing ...

Wow! I just gave Agent a last go for old times sake before deleting it - it connected and downloaded messages perhaps all is not lost.

Re: No reader,news.telstra.net since IP change.

Mmmmm... Thanks for the info, I only really read news groups because I got used to them when I was with Ozemail who provided them as part of their service. Some like aus.tv I abandoned because they just had too much mail to be able to keep up with and others like aus.general and aus.culture.true-blu...

Re: No reader,news.telstra.net since IP change.

Are there any free news services similar to the one Telstra provided? To be frank I am not sure I want to pay for newsgroups because, as Douglas Adams said, most seem to mainly attract people who normally wouldn't crawl out from under their rock. I only read about four groups and don't miss them eno...

Re: Less spam recently

Guesswork on my part but a certain bit of trebucheting may have something to do with it. Andrew It is quite amazing the difference, I would get up to a dozen pieces of spam each morning and often two or three if I logged on for mail again in the evening. Now I generally get no spam at all most morn...

Less spam recently

Is it just me or has there been a dramatic drop in spam just recently on Exetel Mail? The spam in my main mail box has built up over time to 10 or more items a day, it is not unexpected as this has happened with every service I have had since the year dot. When it started to get to that sort of leve...

Re: Naked ADSL?

To the first question -- No. ADSL1 is carried on top of a Telstra phone service. You can port your Telstra number to VoIP, but it makes no sense unless you are on a naked ADSL2 plan. The Optus-based ADSL2 plans require the whole line to be transferred from Telstra to Optus, so no sharing with Telst...

Naked ADSL?

Is it possible to get rid of your Telstra line altogether and keep your ADSL 1 connection? If it is possible how does one go about it? Does Telstra charge for the copper connection? I have a 1500/256 Exetel connection on a now defunct plan - does this matter? Can I make my existing Telstra number my...

Re: Switching Telstra plans

I recently changed my Telstra plan to the $20.95 and it never occurred to me that there would be problem but as far as I know I have had no problem at all.

My ADSL line still works the same as before
