There is the same problem with mis-use of the internet as there is with mis-use of fire arms or automobiles. In the hands of criminals a car, shot gun or an internet connection multiplies their dangerousness. That isn't the issue. The issue is whose responsibility is it to curb the mis-use of the i...

@ austdata (Mike) That would be fine and dandy except that he runs his business from home and his wife uses the internet quite a lot for herself also, and their daughter needs it for her online study. I suppose they could have 4 lines put in for each, but given that it took them a couple years to ge...

Re: Mandatory filtering

So the Labor government has announced its plans to require ISPs to filter all traffic for porn for all customers except those who are willing to opt out and potentially be on some public pro-kiddie porn list. One thing I am wondering though is just how feasible it is without slowing the net in Aust...

I don't have any problem with Exetel Management or Staff engaging it's customers in any ideas. And I certainly do not think it's 'bad business practices'. In 'CorporationLand' or 'HowardWorld', I am sure this would be seen as a bad business idea, because the ONLY criteria for measuring success are f...

Hi all, Regarding PIPE, I was under the impression that PIPE are in the process of building a National network and that when complete, peering from PIPE will no longer be bound by State/Territory boundaries. Or is that not the case? If it is the case, and it happens (whenever), how feasible (technic...

Hi all, I'm a member of Amnesty International and I was donating a sizable sum monthly, I also donated to other charities as/when I could (not lately as I am on medical leave for some months). I would need to talk to my house-mate about this as she pays half the bill. :) But generally, I like it. I ...

Still being invoiced by previous provider?

Hello :) We just received an invoice from Primus for the past month for the ADSL Internet service we had with them before churning to Exetel ADSL2+ OPT E plan. We of course phoned and asked for an explanation. We were told that they only recieved an order to switch the phone service, and NOT the int...

Thanks for that Richard! :D

I forgot about that register. :) We've had at least 6 telemarketing calls the past 2 weeks. I usually say something like "I Have to go wash the cat! Bye." and hang up. LOL

Thanks again! Cheers.
Paul.

Thanks for your help Richard and Exetel! :) Phone seems to be working properly now. I had several calls today, including telemarketers! I almost wish it wasn't working again! LOL I'm quite pleased in fact. I managed to tweak my old PC & ADSL1 Router to get some decent speeds: Test run on 09/11/2007 ...

For me, these changes were the reason we decided to go with Exetel. They were the icing on the cake! We were down to a shortlist of three ISP's and Exetel were the front runner anyway. But this made the decision easier. :) Thanks and Cheers to all at Exetel! To paraphrase Spock: May you all live lon...

Hi Admin. :) Thanks for the comment. :) You raise a point which is a bone of contention! And please believe I am not trying to be picky etc. :) You said: "The issue is that a considerable amount of P2P traffic is theft of copyright..." This is where a big part of the problem lies! It is true that gr...
