Re: VOIP using a Cisco ATA

Thanks Shamin, I got a quick and very helpful response from your support team and it all worked first shot. Thumbs up for residential service support at Exetel!
Cheers,
Matthew.

Re: VOIP using a Cisco ATA

Thanks - none of that information was in the mailout from Exetel, so perhaps I have to ask for it to be activated separately. Entering those things in the Cisco config didn't yield a working connection - the "Optus" thing is being generated by my mobile phone provider when I try to call our not-curr...

VOIP using a Cisco ATA

Hi all - have rejoined Exetel for my new NBN service which is working well - the NBN optical modem seems to be just fine and I have my Belkin router plugged into it and serving the entire house via wifi. All good. I've never set up VOIP before, and bought a Cisco SPA112 ATA in order to do so. I have...

Resolved for me now too. I just upgraded my OS to OS X 10.5 - I don't know if it optimised the connection or it was Exetel's doing, but all is well now.

Just realised that my traceroute there does show a dropped packet at the router. But I've run many, many tests and the packet losses are around the 1% rate if that. Nowhere near the 20-30% through the Exetel gateway.

Hobart - Bathurst exchange - major packet losses (20-30%)

Hi all, Just a heads-up that service in the Hobart region is seriously compromised by extensive packet loss. There was a long-latency issue which was resolved yesterday but the packet loss on pings is continuing at a very high rate. Here are a couple of pings from my machine this morning. Note that ...
