"I think your best option is another cordless handset."
That's what I had anticipated. SIP would be an alternative to Skype rather than another way of accessing my Exetel VOIP account through my computer and headset which is what I was hoping I could do.
Thanks for trying.

Re: VOIP using computer and headphones only?
Thanks for your response. Just to make this clear. I am on an Exetel forum so my present phone account, via my NBN internet connection, is VOIP through Exetel. I am more concerned with outward calls as the router to which my cordless phone is connected is always left on (in another room) and will ri...

VOIP using computer and headphones only?
I have an NBN service with a cordless phone connected to the router providing a VOIP connection which is working satisfactorily. The router / phone is in another room in the house and my computer is connected via LAN through a powerline connection. I know I can use a second cordless phone handset in...

However I have no great need for the extra speed and am very happy with the overall package. What concerns me more is reliability. I cannot recall broadband going down i...

Emergency dial-up service
I have money invested in overseas markets and am nervous whenever there is a problem with my broadband service. A previous broadband supplier I had offered an emergency dial-up service to meet this need. I think I only ever needed to use it once but it certainly gave me peace of mind knowing the opt...
