Re: Optus and new PSTN connections

I now have a new modem but sadly the service is still very slow, never reaching 1.5mbps. I have also never seen it line sync above 1.5mbps on an ADSL2 service. Current modem stats are: ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 1383 kbps 687 kbps Line Attenuation 53.0 db 30.4 db Noise Margin 7.9...

Re: bundled line (optus) - where to find instructions?

Thanks for the directions. These are the same as the default Optus codes which don't work for me. When I dial *96 I get a message that access to this feature is not authorised from this service. The Exetel control panel shows voicemail on the service as being active and messages are being left so I'...

bundled line (optus) - where to find instructions?

I have a new Exetel bundled phone/ADSL2 through Optus and wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of the instructions for using voicemail and other phone services. I have tried the default Optus codes, but these advise me that the service is not available from my line. I have voicemail messag...

Re: Optus and new PSTN connections

A Telstra technician came today and installed a line in so the phone line is now active and the telephone works. ADSL is very slow for an ADSL2 connection though. I have included speedtest results below with only the router plugged in and no background downloads etc. Test run on 25/05/2012 @ 02:42 P...

Optus and new PSTN connections

Some weeks ago I requested a new PSTN connection and ADSL service in suburban Canberra via the FU-65 plan. It looks like a great plan and I'm sure it will be excellent value for money if I ever get a physical connection to enable me to use the ADSL and PSTN accounts that have now been activated. I a...

And suddenly after a few hours of 1.5mpbs we're back up to 9.94mbps via the extel bandwidth tester.

Suddenly slow this week (nights) on Tel$tra ADSL2+

I'[m on ADSL2+ through Tel$tra and since this Monday there has been a sudden drop in night time speed from 8-9mbps to barely hitting 1.5mbps. Is there a known reason for this other than Tel$tra's usual trick of kicking non bigpond users onto a length of old copper to share? I'm on New Town (Tas) exc...

Re: NBN and Exetel

I already bring myself to pay Exetel $90 a month for 88gb at less than one 20th of that speed on a good day, so is this early indicator really so expensive compared to the current outrageously priced options that Tasmanians currently have? The published iinet price for 90 gb downloads is $159.95 - ...

Optus can barely provide a reliable 3G signal in the Hobart CBD, let alone more than 30 minutes out from the GPO, and aside from Telstra, Optus is the only wireless network operator down here.

Re: NBN and Exetel

Thank you for that Felix. If those prices are correct, even if they are inc GST, then it's going to be a pretty hard sell. I couldn't bring myself to spend $169.90 p/m for 100MB broadband with a mere 100GB of d/l's & VoIP and I am sure that I am not alone in that respect. I am curious to know what ...

NBN and Exetel

I note the following media release today from Internode and wonder if Exetel plans on getting in early on the Tasmanian fibre network? Fibre rollout extended to Tasmania with NBN 15-03-2010 Internode today welcomed the official opening of the NBN 'Proof of Concept' test centre in Tasmania. The Centr...

Re: Increase Of $5.00 Per Month In Your Current Plan Charge

Long Answer - it's been noted in various posts that Exetel have withdrawn all but one of the 8MB plans, because Telstra Wholesale seemingly and arbitrarily limit those connections, sometimes to less than half, causing a lot of angst and issues for the users. I can understand that Telstra charges to...

Re: When are 8Mb customers going to get some real choices ?

The choice is an NF plan that allows you to pay cost price for the 8192/384 port rental and get your data at cost price plus around 5 cents per gb. You get the service speed you prefer and Exetel doesn't lose money providing it to you. I take it you mean Z/8192? This comes with 100gb at $90 before ...

Re: Increase Of $5.00 Per Month In Your Current Plan Charge

Having just followed Exetel's suggestion of looking at new ADSL1 plans all I can assume is that Exetel doesn't want ADSL1 customers. There is now just one high speed ADSL1 plan: Z/8192 at $90 a month with 50gb peak/50gb off peak. This single new plan is not overly competitive when compared with othe...

INC and NAK plans - both Optus?

Are all the INC plans provided through Optus? I know the NAK plans are but wondered. My sister in law has just moved house to ASHF (Ashfield) exchange in Sydney and had her Naked plan move rejected as Optus says they have no ports available. PTL plans are available for ASHF but these would require a...
