Is it really possible to use 2gb in 2 hours?

I had been experimenting with tethering my phone and laptop when I received an sms advising I had consumed over 2 gb in less than 2 hours of usage. How is this possible when I could only get (according to my laptop) really intermittent peaks of 50kbs? from what i can see I only downloaded 300 or 400...

No fault ticket?

If I lodge a problem with a mobile service and I get an email to say it is with optus for action - should there be a ticket so I can track it? Just asking because I have no service and only a support email to confirm. I don't want to leave it to chance since no service is a real pain!

I have found the link to change the dowload options but these used to be ticked (from my original setting some time ago) and now they are not - so I ticked them, clicked ok, and it took me to a page showing me that I have now requested to change the on/off peak options from ticked.....to ticked. But...

How do I get an old application for adsl closed?

I applied for adsl2 but was rejected to to excessive line loss. Now I want to apply for adsl1 but the website will not process the request as the old adsl2 application is still pending. Can someone tell me how to close the old adsl2 application since it will never be approved?
