Re: WI A - Thanks for the memories
These plans lose Exetel a bit of money, we are charged a monthly fee for each number we have active. Hi James, I gathered this would be the reason. I'm not exactly a profitable client of Exetel. After all your late father didn't set up Exetel to be a charity. Just an honest business aimed at not fo...

Re: WI A - Thanks for the memories
You could consider changing over to a Standard MBB plan. We currently offer a 2gb plan for $15.95. Hi again Venurukshi, The advantage of these plans, in particular the WI A plan is (was), they were cost effective in monthly cost, AND download charge (1.5c/MB). I often didn't use mine for a couple o...

Re: WI A - Thanks for the memories
There will be no changes made to your VOIP service with the wireless broadband plan changes. Therefore you can continue the VOIP service as it is. Hi Venurukshi, I realise the VOIP service currently stays the same. What I was prefacing, was that I hope there won't be an increase to the $5 VOIP serv...

Thanks shoner,
unfortunately the new premium $6.95/M 5c/MB is as close as it gets to what I'm currently on.

WI A - Thanks for the memories
I received an email today from Exetel informing me that my wireless broadband plan WI A was changing from 1st March. Currently it’s $5/month and 1.5c/MB used. The current plan suits me fine as I only use a handful of megabytes a year and don’t mind the $60/year plus usage. From 1st March it increase...

Re: ATA recomendations for VOIP service
Thanks Dazzled,
I've just ordered the Cisco SPA112 through costmart.com.au for $66.86 delivered to Hobart. Too many options, too many prices. This seems to be the best delivered price, and this ATA seems good. Thanks for the suggestion.

ATA recomendations for VOIP service
Hi, I'm after any current recomendations for a VOIP ATA. I've signed up to an Internode Naked service and need a hardware ATA for my Exetel VOIP service rather than only using Sipdroid via my mobile phone. Sipdroid works "OK", but using the existing cordless phones has got to be a whole lot better? ...

Hi Ian,
Well done for hiding the last 4 digits of the service number in your screen dump. Problem is, below is the full number next to VOIP Usage For...
Can't think of an issue arising, but obviously your were trying to hide the number.

Alternative free Softphone to X-Lite 4
I was recently searching for a free alternative to CounterPaths X-Lite 4 Softphone, which I was having some issues with, not to mention the need to disable all enabled codecs except G711 aLaw in the setup. Eventually I stumbled across Express Talk from NCH Software. http://www.nch.com.au/talk/sip.ht...

Re: xlite softphone oneway audio for incoming calls
Hi This is just related to xlite. as the problem is with the software where it generate two different RTP streams for an incoming call. In this case either g711u or g711a codec should be in the xlite Enabled codec tab. doesn't have to bee exactly g711a as these are just two different variants of th...

Scott,
There is an active thread on Whirlpool regarding the user gadget. Best to tunnel through the threads for the appropriate one there. The author should be able to help.

Re: Telstra ADSL2 plan -> Naked ADSL?
I just switched over to one of the Telstra ADSL2 plans, as previously I couldn't be connected to ADSL2 via the Optus plans. I then attempted to change over to one of the Naked ADSL plans, but I guess they are still being provided by Optus as I got the same rejection message that I used to get. Is t...

Re: X-Lite setup documentation correction/addition
Thanks for drawing attention to this again Paul. It's an X-Lite thing rather than a softphone thing (there are quite a few others, both paid for and free), but it should be noted in the X-Lite specific help sheet. I'll refer the thread to Exetel. No Probs "Dazzled". An easy fix to a major issue tha...

X-Lite setup documentation correction/addition
A few weeks ago I setup VOIP on a laptop and wasted a couple of dollars on failed connections. Unlike standard PSTN calls, it seems that you are charged the call rate even if the remote number is not answered (picked up). At least I was, in my most recent VOIP bill. Anyway, not the end of the world,...
