Re: Wont sync at correct speed

So what happened: eventually I got this reply from Exetel: "Please note that our suppliers have informed us that there is a issue in the supplier related network. However this has been included in a Customer Network Improvement(CNI) plan but they are unable to provide us with an estimated time that ...

What does this mean??

I was having issues with my 8192/384 connection dropping back to 1536/384 no matter what I did. I went through the fault ticket process, it wasn't fixed, and then Exetel advises me the following: "Please note that our suppliers have informed us that there is a issue in the supplier related network. ...

Re: Wont sync at correct speed

Got a new modem & its even worse :( :( New modem: Billion 7401 VGP-R3 (yes basically just the newer model of the one I already have, but the old one used to work, so...) It will sync to the "correct" speed of 7700/384 but only for about 15 seconds, then the connection will drop. It does this over an...

Wont sync at correct speed

My modem keeps dropping back to sync at 1536/384, even though Im on a 8192/384 ADSL1 plan. Usually I just restart the modem and it syncs back around 7700/384 which is fine, but it sometimes takes several restarts and even then it is likely to drop back to 1536/384 within a few minutes. I havent chan...

Re: When recieve free VOIP DID?

Thanks! That makes sense - previously it was always a Naked ADSL2 connection, so of course the VOIP was sent automatically for them, but not for just an ADSL1 connection.

When recieve free VOIP DID?

Hi, Have just signed up to a new exetel account with ADSL1 (but have been an exetel user for 4 years). I just want to check: does your "free voip DID" still get created automatically and emailed to you soon after your internet is connected (as it used to - though they might have stopped doing that, ...

Re: Advice: How to protect against malicious code on websites?

I am interested to hear that malicious code off websites is not well-known...? I was using the second-to-latest version of Firefox (have upgraded now, with the reformat and all). It was Win32:RustNT doing most of the merciless attacking on my system files, although it apparently downloaded a few of ...

Re: Advice: How to protect against malicious code on websites?

Ah thanks. I think I must have a quite old version of Audacity, because I can't do that in mine. Time to update I guess!

In any case... does everyone agree there's no way to protect against malicious code, except to change browsers or OS's?

Re: Advice: How to protect against malicious code on websites?

Hey, thanks for the advice re: VLC and Audacity, I actually have both of those and love them! But they can't (as far as I have figured out) record streaming audio (such as played from websites). That's what I was trying to find, and did indeed find a small application that does the trick. In any cas...

Advice: How to protect against malicious code on websites?

Hi everyone! I am just looking for some advice... I recently got a massive virus infection on my computer (resulting in a complete wipe, its all fixed now) from simply going to a website. I opened a few tabs of websites to search for freeware audio recorders, none of them particularly dodgy looking,...

Re: How to do Call Waiting?

Thanks for that, although Im still confused. My phone manual (Panasonic) says "refer to your service provider" as to what buttons to press!!! That's why I asked here. The manual is kind enough to hint that it involves the 'recall' button though, so I guess I'll try [recall] [1] or [2] and see what h...

How to do Call Waiting?

How do you use Call Waiting on the exetel voip service? (I'm assuming that the call waiting function is controlled by exetel, not by my voip modem, or by the phone handset itself?). I get beeping occasionally while talking on the phone, which I am pretty sure is another call coming in. However I can...

Re: Unable to leave a message on an answering machine

will likely end up having to get the 7401VGP - of which I recall when I was researching VOIP modems had (other) issues as well! (Just because I love this model of modem I'm going to say) I would definitely recommend the 7401VGP-M.... I have tried a couple of different modems (NB9W-MAXX and the Dyna...
