Re: Slow speeds in Bondi
Looks like the joy was short-lived. There definitely seems to be congestion issues down at the beach. As 5 PM passed, the speeds are dropping again albeit better than on PPPoA. 5.24 PM Your current bandwidth reading is: 4.53 Mbps which means you can download at 579.63 KB/sec. from our servers. -----...

Re: Slow speeds in Bondi
Looks like I sussed it out. The Draytek reports MTU size as 1000 – 1500.
Looks to me like it adjusts this as it sees fit?

Re: Slow speeds in Bondi
Hi, Thanks for the reply. Changing to PPPoE has made a big difference. Why was it PPPoA previously and why has it changed? My router is a Draytek 2710Vn. I'm using a Mac so to adjust the MTU I need to use the Terminal app. Does anyone know what commands I use to view and change the MTU settings? I'v...

Slow speeds in Bondi
Hi,
I wondered if someone at Exetel can please tell me why speeds are so consistently bad at Bondi Beach? Every evening they drop down to 300-400 kb/s. I once got up to 1.5 MB/sec. What's happening? Really want this sorted. I hardly download a damned thing over a given month.
Thanks ... S

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
Keep digging Rookie -- best if you can test everything with different computers to rule out hardware issues. I went from thinking it was Exetel to my modem then the airport card in my MacBook then finally realised it was the update! Took days to work this out!

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
I thought I should add something important here. The problem was with the new Mac OSX 10.5.8 updater. It kills wifi on MacBooks. After endless amounts of testing, I finally worked it out and then found a pile of articles on the web with other users experiencing the same troubles. Apple released a pa...

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
I'm sorry but it looks like I've wasted everyone's time. I did everything except connect the line directly to my modem. It's my wireless that's screwed up. A very bad oversight. It's always been excellent so overlooked. Your current bandwidth reading is: 7.95 Mbps which means you can download at 101...

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
Hi All, I just followed the isolation tests etc that someone gave me the link to. There is no difference: Test run on 14/08/2009 @ 08:20 PM Mirror: Exetel Data: 3 MB Test Time: 29.47 secs Your line speed is 831 kbps (0.83 Mbps). Your download speed is 104 KB/s (0.1 MB/s). I'll PM my number -- thanks...

Re: Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
There might be some horrendous congestion at Bondi, or something may need adjusting at your place. This has got to be the problem. I have a friend in Bondi Junction also on Exetel and she has noted how slow her internet connection has become over the last few weeks. She hasn't run a speed test (doe...

Just ran another test at Bondi and it's still stuffed 2 days later:
Your current bandwidth reading is:
520.10kbps
which means you can download at 65.01 KB/sec. from our servers.
Nightmare.

Non-stop repeating slow speed problems
Dear Exetel, I am at Bondi Beach and have been with you guys for over a year. Over the last 8 weeks now the line speed here has been horrendously inconsistent. Two nights ago I was getting 1.4 MB/s and tonight I can barely pull 60 kb/s. This keeps happening. It's totally inconsistent from one night ...
