Mobile using ADSL Allowance

I have a need for a mobile broadband account particularly to access and reply to email but also for other web services including games etc. Do the Exetel mobile broadband plans allow usage to be charged against my current ADSL1 data allowance and more importantly do they allow access for me to send ...

Re: Mobile Email Access

Exetel do indeed have a wireless internet service using the Optus network, it is very well priced - prices start at $5 per month with no usage included, usage is 2c pe Mb counted both ways there is no contract term, ideal for casual amd or emergency usage. Plans are listed here http://www.exetel.co...

Mobile Email Access

Guys, I have been affected by the floods in Queensland and as a result have been forced to relocate. Of necessity I have had to obtain a mobile internet connection through a major supplier to keep in touch with the world. Having done this however (and EXETEL does not have a RETAIL mobile internet sy...

Re: New Residential Members Facilities

Guys, Love the new layout and information availability BUT as mentioned in previous posts, is it possible to limit the information provided to that which is applicable to each user account? Extraneous information only clutters up the system ad tends to confuse. Perhaps you could advertise other avai...

Plan Transfer

I would really like to change my current ADSL1 plan to another ADSL1 plan (can't get ADSL2 buggar-it) - more $ for Exetel every month - but to do so the current pricing says that I must pay a $90 setup fee. Given that my telephone line is already in place, Exetel is my current provider and I am only...

Re: Upgrading Plan Cost

The explanation given here is absolutely wrong. In the last week I have wanted to update my account from an "old" plan to a "new" plan and yet the cost to do so remains at $90 even though there is no change to line connection or line speed (I can't get ADSL2). Sorry guys but I really can't see that ...

BiPAC 5200G R4 Can't connect to Internet

I have tried using the auto configuration and manual configuration to set up this modem however after passing all other tests the internet connection test fails. My username and password are correct and I cannot see where there is a problem in the settings. I have tried with my firewall turned off a...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

The possibilities here are endless. Pensioners (myself included) absolutely look for bargains all the time and tend to stick with those companies who continue to offer them good service at a reasonable & discounted price. I am happy with the plan I am currently on and would not be looking to change ...

I figured it was something like that but wanted it from the horses's mouth so to speak. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Re: Idle Curiosity

Guys, thanks for the great feedback. I agree that Sol has a lot to answer for - and so does the Government for that matter - but the fact remains that we who are on ADSL1 because the exchange has not been upgraded - are at a very big disadvantage to those lucky enough to live in a high density area ...

Idle Curiosity

Please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong area. I am wondering why it is that ALL ISPs - even Exetel - charge by download speed. Download limits I can relate to but it seems to me that there is little difference between downloading a file for say 30 minutes at 1500 than downloading the same ...

Re: Static IP Address

By way of additional information, the following is from the Exetel web site:

From 1/1/08 the first thirty change requests in any calendar year are not charged.

Static IP Address

Am I right in understanding that my account has a static IP address? If so is it possible to change this to a random IP every time I log in? I am having serious issues with viruses entering my system and am thinking that someone may have my IP address. Guidance and advice for a novice in these matte...
