Phone line woes

Hello I have a current ticket: 6560772 (Reference: WYU-35555-665) regarding no dial tone. Essentially on Monday I lost my phone service along with ADSL naturally. Over the week the dial tone came back and I've had unstable ADSL service and noisy line. Yesterday we had a Telstra 'tech' attend to test...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

Finally I had some action on my issue today. Line test conducted while I was on the phone. Amazing stuff. The call is being forwarded to the wholesaler (Optus I assume) for investigation. I found this today also: SNR Margin In general, a higher signal to noise ratio will result in less errors. 6bB. ...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

Is exetel tech support someone's idea of a bad joke? How many attempts does it take to do a simple line test? Ref: GZU-78773-882 Are there are any onshore service managers that might be able to get this line test done I'd appreciate it (my contact details are in the ticket). I'm seriously about to p...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

What a wonderfully frustrating experience my support ticket 3750041 has been. Waiting all day with no PSTN phone for someone to do a line test. Only to be told, when I eventually gave up waiting and emailed for status that my modem should be disconnected too. Of course I'm sure they have been trying...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

OK - well disconnects still occurring for me. No more IPCP errors on the new billion, it just says disconnected. Given that Vert02 is same exchange and experience the same issues, I think I might log a call?

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

If you have a few bob for quality components, look up the Draytek Vigor range from Taiwan. Yeah I've just bought another Billion and have the same issues. 7404VNPX. Dont think it was a smart move.... JMG is just up the road, literally and I've bought most of my routers from him. I think I will try ...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

The message is a PPP problem. I'm no Billion fan, and don't want to have one so don't bet on this, but if it were mine I'd be on the telnet interface having a go at forcing it to retrain the port at a higher noise margin than it defaults to. There's a CLI manual for a related product at http://bill...

Re: Incorrect IPCP Configuration

Been experiencing the same disconnects the past few days on the MAYF exchange aswell. Edit: Netcomm router. From my brief research the "Incorrect IPCP" error seems to be an exclusively Billion issue. I can't be certain, but suspect you might be getting drop outs for an unrelated reason (like genera...

Incorrect IPCP Configuration

Hi - not sure where the problem so I'm asking for a little assistance. I am getting disconnects from my ADSL2 service. When viewing the router status page it says "Incorrect IPCP Configuration" and it usually reconnects within 30 seconds. This happens randomly and about once every hour. This has onl...

Re: ADSL2+ But where's the speed

Going back to your first speed test, you are showing dual 11Mbps = 1.4MB/s results. Those speeds would be within the upper quartile of transfer speeds and at that transfer rate you could stream DVD quality uncompressed video! Thanks for the reply. So basically I have a very good sync / throughput b...

Re: ADSL2+ But where's the speed

Wow thanks JasonM for your rapid reply! Appreciate it. No the house has never had FoxTel and I doubt an alarm, I haven't been here long enough to say never. Can you give me a brief description of what the 'profiles' you are able to apply and how they impact connection speed and throughput? I'm assum...

ADSL2+ But where's the speed

Hi, I wondered if one of the many knowledgable people on here could offer some assistance :D . I hate to create another "slow ADSL2+" thread, but I would really like some opinons around why my speed 'appears' to be slow. I have a done a number of test and conducted some experiments which I will outl...
