Unauthorised service scans resulting in SPAM blocks

Exetel blocked our ADSL2+ service several times recently due to "open resolvers". When asking for details the following log fragment (see below) was sent showing an AISI report: AISI REPORT INFO: ----------------- ADDITIONAL: None DATETIME: 2009-11-19 12:56:40 IP: 220.233.165.xxx NETWORK: EXETEL POR...

Re: DNS timeouts when looking up comm bank

Are you using IPv4 or IPv6? IPv6 can take a very long time to negotiate with some sites. Try suppressing it (go to about:config "network.dns.disableIPv6", and set it true; else include it in a modprobe blacklist). Hey this appears to fix the problem for firefox! I do use IPV4 any I set network.dns....

Re: DNS timeouts when looking up comm bank

Do have DNS set to autodetect or have you actually entered the numbers? The DNS servers are set to those recommended by Exetel: 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4. At the moment the login takes about 50 seconds so its not quite timing out. If I logout and login again, then it takes the expected 2-3 second...

Re: DNS timeouts when looking up comm bank

You could try changing your Primary DNS server to Open DNS Primary 208.67.222.222 and see if that makes a difference. Another possibility is lowering the MTU in your modem - search this Forum for examples. Tested the 208.67.222.222 DNS with the same results: $ host -v www2.my.commbank.com.au 208.67...

Re: Possible Change To Off Peak Period

The time change is not that important. High volume stuff would just be queued for the new time whatever that is. But if you want to count votes, then mine is no - leave it as it is. What is important, and others have touched on this, is how to ensure the important traffic gets through. VoIP and gami...

DNS timeouts when looking up comm bank

I have not been able to access Comm Bank's Netbanking facilities using our Exetel ADSL2+ service for about 4 weeks. I keep getting timeouts on initial login or if that eventually works, the next page. Access to other secure web sites, including another bank's, work FINE. Using the same machine and b...

Re: Can't dial 13xxxx numbers

if you prefix the call with 61 does it dial then?
If I prefix the 13xxxx number with 61 they do ring but never connect. If I ring the 13xxxxx from another phone (mobile in this case) they are connected (answered) immediately.

Can't dial 13xxxx numbers

Instead of connecting to the number dial I get a recorded announcement: "We're sorry. Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and dial again or call customer service to assist you." Who is "customer service" and what is their number anyway? Two numbers I have tried repeatedl...
