Re: Speedtest seriously lower than sync

Will do that some time in the next week. 25mbps is still heaps faster than we're used to anyway.

We're also not using the "official" ZTE modem at the moment, so I'll check with that to make sure it's not our stuff.

Speedtest seriously lower than sync

Just got our NBN FTTN connected yesterday... We're on a 50/20 plan, but a fair distance from the node. The modem says it's sync speed is about 41mbps down and 9.1 up. Here's the query though - Speed tests are giving the full 9mbps upload (awesome), but the downloads cap out at exactly 25mbps... Has ...

Re: Disabling TR-069

Just adding for anyone else that comes across this... TR-069 allows for remote configuration changes to the device. Like any remote access, this is helpful for support... But does create a security risk (even if it's low). TR-069 allows the settings to be changed, and firmware to be updated. Again, ...

IP address being changed?

I've just been told our public IP is changing on the 15th. Can this be delayed? We run public facing services - including email. Our DNS TTL is 14 days. I've been given 2 to change this... See the problem? I'd also like to know what time of day to expect it. Since, you know, I have to change DNS set...

Re: Telstra played in the pit - 25% loss in sync speed.

So we're 2 weeks along, and we now sit and talk to each other about the weather or what web page we're hoping to look at next... Current sync speed is just 795kbps. Yes, I do mean kilobits. We're at half Telstra's acceptable speeds. I'm now told this has only just been passed on to Telstra... What t...

Re: Telstra played in the pit - 25% loss in sync speed.

I added a monitor for ADSL sync speed to my monitoring system yesterday afternoon (about 4.20pm - the flat line prior to 4pm in the graph is incorrect). As you can see, it's not happy.

Re: Telstra played in the pit - 25% loss in sync speed.

We've got a small improvement... 5585 now. Still not as fast as it was, but 300k extra is better than nothing.

We might leave it for now - if it doesn't drop again, we'll put up with it until NBN comes along.

Telstra played in the pit - 25% loss in sync speed.

So about 10:45 this morning, our internet suddenly died. We noticed Telstra "playing" in the pits.... No notifications, cause Telstra just don't care. Anyway, 2 hours of downtime, and it's back. But we're only getting ~5.2mbps sync now, down from just over 7. Or, roughly a 25% loss in sync speed. Ne...

Re: Facebook videos slooooooowwwwww.

The site itself is fine.... It's just videos. And because it's Facebook, the exact URL to the video will be a closely guarded secret.

I could do a traceroute to facebook.com, but that would show nothing. The videos aren't hosted there. They're on some sort of poorly implemented CDN.

Facebook videos slooooooowwwwww.

For some months now, I've been finding videos on Facebook to randomly be incredibly slow. So slow that often I have to pause it and come back some time later. Some days it's fine. Others it goes up and down. And some days it's just so slow I wait until the next day. Speed on other websites and servi...

Re: Netcomm NF4V .. How to configure for phone over NBN (FTT

I had read this thread already before I factory reset yesterday, and I've done all that... I've factory reset to ensure no one else's fiddling was causing problems. I toggled SIP ALG, I tried the PPP0.1 interface option... I left it around 5 minutes between toggling settings to check if it would reg...

Re: Netcomm NF4V .. How to configure for phone over NBN (FTT

Not working for my grandmother's NF4V. Internet is working great, but the VoIP just says "down" on the modem. Factory reset and used the Exetel wiki as a guide, and it just won't work. To make matters worse, it seems to not even be trying. There's nothing at all in the logs about voice stuff. I even...

Data sharing/pooling across multiple SIMs?

Optus, Telstra and Vodafone are all advertising family/business data sharing mobile plans.... As in, you sign up for 2x1GB plans, and the 2GB total is available to be spread across the 2 devices as needed (rather than being capped to 1GB on each, you might go 1.5GB on one and 500mb on the other). Is...

Re: Regional VoIP DID's

Is there still issues with regional areas? I notice the posts in this thread are now quite old.... If there is still only selected areas covered, is there some way to check what areas are covered without starting an application process? If there's no issues, perhaps this thread should be un-stickied...
