VPN passthrough problem
I have NBN FTTN and am having trouble getting VPN passthrough (L2TP/IPSEC) working. I have been told by Exetel support staff that I have a static IP, that no ports are blocked and that no faults are showing on my line. In other words, VPN passthrough should be working ... it must be an issue with my...

Re: April Fool: You owe us money! How much? Not telling!
I have replied direct to Thushari, but for the information of those following this thread: There is good news! I have been provided with the information, and have been able to sort out the payment. Everything now seems to be OK! However, the situation was even more farcical than I imagined when I st...

Re: April Fool: You owe us money! How much? Not telling!
Dear Dazzled Thanks for your help ... and for serving voluntarily as administrator of this forum. It's much appreciated. While I agree with your explanation as a general principle for members initiating contact with Exetel, perhaps I haven't made my point clearly enough when it comes to people respo...

April Fool: You owe us money! How much? Not telling!
I guess I am taking the trouble to write because I am a long-time Exetel member, because I appreciate the value of the service, and because I am often recommending Exetel to my friends and colleagues, and helping them set it up. I like to see Exetel do a good job. But sometimes I just shake my head ...

Re: Optus tower locations ?
Dazzled I have attempted to follow your instructions to get details from my Huawei B932 modem using AT commands without success. I was able to login to my modem using Hyperterminal and got to the Busybox msh prompt. It did not support dmesg or tr commands and the echo command did not support the -e ...

Re: Basic technical info and strategies wanted!
I am still interested in answers to my questions (not necessarily from Exetel staff) and a discussion of possible strategies.

Re: EDGE connections?
I accept that Exetel staff have already done what they can with Optus to resolve this matter and, as you point out, had already done so when I posted this question and my other related questions in the Mobiles forum at https://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=39454#p300621. The purpose of my...

Re: EDGE connections?
I submitted this issue to Residential Support on May 31 (before I asked my questions in this forum) and was given ticket #5235873. Is this adequate? I have changed the settings to "WCDMA only" and "All bands" and do not notice any difference. The following is a tabulation of my experience for about ...

EDGE connections?
Are EDGE connections supported by Exetel wireless broadband? When the signal is not good enough for HSPA, my modem (Huawei B932) falls back to GPRS (56k) and then tries to bump this up to EDGE (384k). In these circumstances (when I visit the Upper Yarra Valley in Victoria, for example), the GPRS con...

Re: Basic technical info and strategies wanted!
Thank you for the answers. If I understand this correctly, is it true to say that: 1. The signal strength indicator on a phone or modem is actually measuring the signal strength of the strongest available connection. It will ignore the signal strength of a tower with no available connections, even i...

Basic technical info and strategies wanted!
Like others in this forum, over the last three years I have been experiencing diminished mobile/HSPA service at an address which has line of sight to an Optus tower. Where once signal strength was fairly constant and reliable, now it fluctuates wildly and connections are hard to establish or are los...

Re: Previous month's usage
Six weeks later, I haven't been updated on this, and invoices still do not contain landline information.

Re: Previous month's usage
Thank you for sending through the list of last month's calls.
Also, thank you for suggesting to your development team to include the details of the call records even if the bill value is zero.
If they can get that done by next month, that would be wonderful.

Previous month's usage
I rely on Exetel's invoices to keep a record of previous months' service usage and often refer to this. The October 1 bill did not include my landline usage for September. Is there a way for me to access this? (I can't see a way through Member Facilities.) Do I now have to copy my landline usage det...

Re: Virtual mobile number - getting SMS by email
Yes, I think I have found the problem. It is with a spam filter on my machine. Not having used this facility before, I did not realise that the "notification" was actually the first part of the forwarded message. The spam filter has cut out the rest, including the message content. It doesn't seem to...
