Re: Off Peak Periods
I terms of smoothing out the graph isn't it misleading to concentrate only on the real-time monitoring on the exetel site (http://www.exetel.com.au/a_plan_pricing_new.php)? Aren't there other ISP's sharing that same pipe?

Re: Off Peak Periods
Maybe allow a limited number of users to swap their long offpeak hours for shorter offpeak hours but in the afternoon (where I see there is capacity). Just release a few such swap opportunities and see how it goes before offering more.

Re: Phantom "Sending Message Text" SMS Are Being Sent
it's the crappy Optus SIM backup service, it 'should' give up trying to send them after you choose no a few times (can take multiple times though), most Optus handsets are blessed with this useless feature Thanks for reassuring me somewhat but... (1) It is only a recent phenomenom (2) I don't get a...

Phantom "Sending Message Text" SMS Are Being Sent
When I use my mobile phone (with exetel HSPA SIM) as a modem to connect my laptop,
I see on the phone display that mysterious outgoing SMS's are being generated
with the following announcement ""Sending Message Text"
What is this about? Have I been hijacked?

Re: YouTube Uploads Erratic
I still do not have this problem with Vimeo (just tried with 500M upload via FireFox v3.5.9) but it is still happening with YouTube. Again the problem seems to be the fancy flash option (which can't be turned off in YouTube). Does look like Exetel are not to blame.

Re: YouTube Uploads Erratic
I've been heavily watching Youtube most of this week, and haven't had a downstream buffering problem, so I don't think the Brisbane problems have reached Sydney. (1) It is an upload issue not download. (2) I'm at Lake Macquarie which is between Sydney and Newcastle. Thanks for the tips. Kissyoutube...

Can't test Youtube because its link called "Upload problems? Try without the progress bar." does not work.

Re: YouTube Uploads Erratic
My upload to Vimeo is working now. 175Meg.
Perhaps because I chose the "simple" option this time (ie not the flash default).
In which case it is not Exetel's fault after all.
I must try the same in Youtube. if there is such an option that is (there used to be).
Will report here.

YouTube Uploads Erratic
My upload goes OK for about 15 minutes then it stalls to zero, with 5 second bursts every couple of minutes. In the graph below, there is a faint vertical dashed line marker every minute... youtube_upload_stalling2.gif I can't even count on this 95% crippled connection to finish off the upload becau...

Re: Set up info on Voip/fring via Mobile/HSPA
Free 'SIP' on Nimbuzz is selective by phone make/model. I use to have a Samsung Innov8 and the Nimbuzz SIP feature was disabled, 'call-out' credits was the only option. In my case it used to work fine and I haven't disabled anything, merely gone interestate. When exetel give us a VOIP phone number ...
