Re: Exetel's incompetent billing

You're really not getting it, are you James? Exetel did not notice that the debt was tiny, and they did something about it - reminding me of the outstanding 4 cents. And please stop sounding like an annoyed auntie and telling me to get over it. You are not doing Exetel PR any favours, you know. You'...

Re: Exetel's incompetent billing

Well, James. It wasn't "a mistake". It was three mistakes. 1. Failure to submit the direct debit request to my bank. This could have been an IT problem; I accept that. 2. Getting the debit request wrong to the tune of 4 cents. 3. Chasing me to pay four cents. This was a deliberate human decision - a...

Re: Exetel's incompetent billing

Exciting update! After wasting my time and threatening legal action caused by their own mistakes, Exetel has generously decided to (wait for it) WAIVE THE FOUR CENTS . Sob. That is such a weight off my mind. I can't believe their magnanimity and kindness. I will put those four cents aside as a perm...

Re: Exetel's incompetent billing

Maybe I should mail the Exetel CEO Richard Purdy a five cent coin (the minimum value legal tender) and threaten him with legal action if he doesn't refund me one cent.

Exetel's incompetent billing

I am SO mad at Exetel right now. I pay my Exetel bill by direct debit. Always have. Imagine my surprise when I received a threatening email saying that I had not paid the last bill - about $90. I replied, advising that I paid by direct debit and if they haven't been paid, it's their own fault for no...

Re: Are uploads metered?

Thanks for the assistance. It does seem like uploads are metered, unlike my previous ADSL.
That will affect the NBN plan I settle on. I may have to move from 500GB to Unlimited.

Re: Are uploads metered?

Thanks for the tip. May I ask exactly where in the members' area I can find this information.
I can't see it.

Also, what happens if one exceeds one's monthly NBN bandwidth? Shaping? Excess charging? Chinese wrist burn?

Are uploads metered?

Hi. A quick, dumb question. Are uploads counted in one's monthly bandwidth quota?

Thanks

Terrible speeds and even worse support

Six days ago I logged a support ticket (10740762) via email after my ADSL2+ speed dropped from 10Mbps to an average of 0.2Mbps. Today it's 0.023Mbps and I can only hope this post actually uploads within the next few hours. All forms of online work have become sheer torment. I'd go back to dialup mod...

Re: residentialsupport@exetel.com.au

I have posted help requests on three occasions to this supposed support venue. I have received automated replies with ticket numbers, but absolutely no follow-up! Does anyone actually monitor that email address? For what it's worth - two recent ticket numbers were 9053445 (5 days old) and 9064722 (...

Re: Report Broken Links/Failed Web Functions Here

Where has the Speed Test gone?

In 'Useful Links', the Speed Test link should go to http://www.exetel.com.au/speed/ but it only goes to the exetel homepage.

Re: OCV200 unexpected, unwanted charges

Update: a couple of minutes after turning off these unwanted chargeable functions, I tried ringing my own landline and the voicemail didn't work anyway. I doubt that the voicemail service could not have been stopped in the few minutes between cancellation and testing. It seems that not only was I be...

OCV200 unexpected, unwanted charges

Hi all. I changed from naked to OCV200 with a phone line and all went well. Today I idly checked my profile and found that I had been charged for voicemail, callerID and 'select call accept' - each $3 a month - without my permission. I find this rather slippery of Exetel. I'm damned sure there were ...

Re: ADSL2 Unlimited Plans (For Exetel Users Only)

I'm naked  , but I assume I could go for the $55 BYO phone plan and ignore the phone bit altogether?
I like the idea of 'unlimited', unless it comes with reduced speed.
