Re: Can't access internet outside exetel

OK! My system is back on line now! No resetting of the modem required either. Thanks to whoever was responsible!

Re: Can't access internet outside exetel

I live in WA and it seems I have the same problem. I have also submitted a fault ticket some hours ago but no response yet (as far a I can tell). The fault appeared suddenly in the middle of using the system about 9pm last night (21/11/09). I don't think it coincided with resetting the router, but m...

Re: Change To Usage Measurement Times

... So instead of saying "things are now worse off for me" I challenge any Perth user to rebut the statement that local metered times are a fairer system. Of course it is fairer to give everyone the "lowest common denominator" of service. But you wouldn't dream of say slowing down ADSL2 users to AD...

Re: Change To Usage Measurement Times

So if you get to start at 9pm why shouldn't the rest of Australia? .. this way, everyone is equal What sort of crazy logic is that! If I work shift work and so get to drive into the city at 2am when there is no other traffic, then you would argue that the traffic lights or should be slowed down so ...

Re: Change To Usage Measurement Times

I wonder why all the WA based posts are appearing now? There was ample opportunity to comment earlier when the point was first made ... Maybe if one spent all ones time keeping up with the forum postings and blogs then there might have been an opportunity to comment. But the first I heard of it was...

Re: Change To Usage Measurement Times

One of the most common suggestions made by Exetel customers who don’t live in Victoria and NSW ... What sort of idiot would make such a suggestion!!! Reminds me of the Irishman who was sentenced to death by guillotine, but while he was on the block the blade kept getting jammed half way down. Just ...

huzzy wrote ... It connects faultlessly every time, however after approx 5 minutes data stops being received. I have to disconnect and then reconnect to get another 5 minutes of use. ... I have seen pretty much the same problem - for me it would generally keep going longer than 5 minutes but sometim...

Re: Can't access internet, despite "connection"

Thanks for that - it is greatly appreciated. I will might leave it on automatic for now and if I the problem arises again I will enter these DNS server addresses and see if it cures the problem instantly. Although my system seldom (maybe never) dropped the "connection", I had plenty of problems with...

Reflash firmware on a Loaned E169?

I have been reading these archives and came across a thread (http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=31463) which described a successful reflashing of the software/firmware on the E169 with generic code from the manufacturer's site (http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/doc/list.do?type=-1&id=4...

Re: Can't access internet, despite "connection"

On reading these archives more extensively I came across someone who described an identical problem to mine and found a fix to it: http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=29691 How come you didn't point me to that one Corey? However I don't really understand his solution. Here is what he say...

Re: Connection/External Antenna

... I have been told to use my laptop to find the best signal. I do not know how to do that. ... If you plug the E169 directly into a USB port of your laptop, and then run the little Optus application that self installs from your E169 modem when you plug it in (called "Optus Wireless Broadband"), i...

Re: Can't access internet, despite "connection"

Another update: The system still seems to be working as well as it ever did. Seems to connect first time every time, and doesn't drop out for as long as I leave it running (a couple of days now). I left it with "WCDMA only" selected but I am not sure if that selection is active because that selectio...

Re: Can't access internet, despite "connection"

I left my system off-line all day because I couldn't get it to talk to the internet this morning (I didn't have long to keep trying before having to leave for work). But this evening I simply booted the laptop (which contains RASDIAL in a .bat file) and everything just up and ran, just as if it had ...

Re: Can't access internet, despite "connection"

My system used to work well but has become increasingly bad until last night I had to do maybe 30 disconnects and reconnects before it would see the internet. I have a very strong signal (always over 90%) and it never fails to "connect". Initially (a week or so ago) once it had connected, the intern...
