NBN VoIP with 4G failover (again)
This topic first came up about a year ago, during a significant NBN outage. At the time, consensus seemed to be that it could work, should work, and sounds like a good idea. Now that I've tried it (blame it on COVID-19 and stay-at-home orders) I've found that it's not quite hitting the mark. When co...

Re: NBN VoIP with failover to 4g?
Thanks Kavinda, Judging from the status reports, we should be back online within a couple of days. I'll probably miss a few scam calls in that time, but the included international minutes on our mobile plan should get us through so there's probably no need to enable "foreign" IP's for my VoIP at thi...

NBN VoIP with failover to 4g?
My nbn service is caught up in the current NSW outage. This has me thinking I should have updated my ancient Exetel MBB plan and equipment to use my router's 4g failover provision. My VoIP account is restricted to Exetel IP's only, and I'm happy for it to stay that way (having been scammed previousl...

Re: Pricing for new customers
Thanks Nicole, Chantel called and fixed it all up. I was surprised to find there was different pricing for regional customers. The Exetel public website doesn't seem to take this into account. (This probably needs some attention, so you don't end up with disappointed customers or loss-making contrac...

Re: Pricing for new customers
I've checked again, providing my address on the Exetel website, for my current plan - 25/5Mbps, 100GB, the price is $49.99. If I go to user facilities, the same plan for a 12 month contract is $69.99. If it's incentive pricing then that's a legitimate business practice, but I've been with Exetel for...

Pricing for new customers
Checking the Exetel website, I noticed that the price for my NBN plan is somewhat less than I'm paying. I thought I might be able to get the new price by recontracting, but no, the price offered through the member services page is the same as I'm paying now. Is this a glitch, or is Exetel offering r...

MoIP app for Android?
G'day all, I'm considering setting up MoIP on an HTC Desire (running Android 2.2) in the hope of using a prepaid SIM overseas to stay in touch with home. I've seen SIPDroid mentioned and it gets some reasonably positive reviews, is anyone using it with Exetel MoIP? Are there any technical limitation...

Also having problems on Corrimal (NSW) exchange. Using wireless backup now, performance is very hit-and-miss.

Re: NB9WMAXX - high downstream error rate on powerup
If you can't borrow a suitable modem, try going to one of the larger retailers - say Harvey Norman, for instance. Tell them you want an NB9WMAXX, but you're not sure if it will work properly with your setup. Explain your error rate problem (although it might not be helpful to say it's another NB9WMA...

My NB5Plus4W forgot how to use DNS's
Last night I was unable to access any web resources, apparently due to failed DNS lookups. I restarted the modem (a couple of times) but still nothing. Thinking I might have an account problem, I connected through my (obscenely expensive non-Exetel) 3G service. Having reached the Exetel home page, I...
