details of ADSL termination - Exetel staff, pls read

Like many other users, I too received a termination letter from Exetel. The letter seems identical to every other such termination letters. I can see the reason behind this. Exetel wants to make money. And I download too much for them to make money. But there are a few issues Exetel needs to conside...

Re: Interest in iPad Plans?

I am very interested. But my wireless data usage is irregular. Some months I use more, some months I don't use much at all, it all depends on whether I travel for work. So I wouldn't want a monthly plan that forfeits the unused data or requires ongoing top-up to roll-over data allowance. I would pre...

Re: Why is my Naked ADSL2+ like dial-up?

I just switched from the old NAK plans to the new ones this month. Same problem. Offpeak is now topping out at 70kb/sec, doesn't matter which site I browse, local or international. Tried to watch some youtube video Sunday morning during offpeak - stutters to no end. This never used to happen on the ...

Re: Unbelievably wrong peak user meter data

Bathuu, did the problem occur on the 2nd of April? If so, there might have been some sort of system problem with Exetel. A large chunk of my downloads got counted to peak on the 2nd of April, even though all my download managers are set to download during off-peak only. This only happened on the 2nd...

Re: change to new plan possible?

Ok. I never quite understood the provisioning of the naked ADSL. But it doesn't matter, I couldn't cancel my Optus landline anyway because it was under contract too. But the landline is now out of contract. Which means I am free to cancel it without penalty from Optus. I am still on the NAK2A plan a...

change to new plan possible?

I am currently on NAK2A with Exetel. It's going to be out of contract in a few days. I also currently have a Optus landline on the same plan. This landline was never disconnected despite me being on the naked plan. I kept it because Optus gave me a good deal on it. It's also out of contract. My ques...

Re: hosting a small forum

No, it's not exactly a intranet type of thing. We want people to be able to access it from the outside. And bypass the organisation intranet altogether to avoid beaurecracy and policy difficulties. It is more of a private forum for some staffs rather than anything official. The organisation is a sma...

hosting a small forum

Hello. I am on the Naked ADSL2 plan. I would like to setup a small forum for the private use of my organisation. It would be no more than 30 users all together and I don't expect much traffic in terms of bandwidth at all. I intend to buy a domain name either via a 3rd party like planetdomain.com or ...

Lost password, exetel staff pls help

My account was activated 1 month ago. The 2 emails I got from Exetel didn't actually contain username and password where it was supposed to. I can't for the life of me figure out how I got online. There might have been an SMS or something. Basically now I have flashed my modem firmware, I don't know...

VOIP clarification please

I posted this in an old thread but got no reply. Apologies for double posting here. If you can help, please let me know. I have the VOIP service setup via my VOIP/ADSL modem at home. When people ring my DID, my phone at home rings, as it should. If I input these settings into my iPhone Fring at the ...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

This thread is quickly becoming one of the biggest on the forum. I think a few things seem clear: 1. Centrelink defined pensioners have variable means. 2. Centrelink defined pensioners have variable needs - some want large downloads, some want off peak allowances, some don't use SMS or VOIP, others ...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

I don't know how popular this idea it would be, if the rest of Exetel users would need to subsidize these "pensioner plans". You can trial it, but you may lose people if the costs of the regular plan go up or data allowances go down as a result of these subsidies. Why not just offer a no-frills plan...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

Like many things in life, a debate on the definitions of things is rarely helpful if not in the context of certain objectives. The focus should be on what Exetel's intent is. If with this "pensioner plan" idea, Exetel originally intends to provide cheaper Internet to people who are old, retired and ...
