From a Carrier's point of view, this is better for them!!! At least Exetel makes this option affordable. At the moment I will stay with v3.0 firmware!!!

it's still compatible with the service though just not for mobile as a modem So all the network functions work on v3.1 across HSPA like email and browsing...just not tethering?? I gather you still need the APN mod for 'exetel1', in order to allow 3G networks services to the phone...Is this correct??

I am happy to have tethering going using the Exetel HSPA broadband plan on the iPhone. Working on both Mac and PC...fantastic!
