Any new mobile plans coming along?

Starting to get a bit bored with my $20 cap plan. I need more call credit but there is nothing at the $30 price range, and the $40 plan is not great value compared to other providers. Does anybody know if there are any new plans coming long, or perhaps other good providers with plans at the $30 mark...

Re: ETA on new GBIT link?

I would like to know this also. This backhaul has been congested for weeks. Just look at the graph for gods sake. There's only one reason why Exetel is cheap, cause they run non-existent margins on bandwidth.

Re: Packet loss

that explains why i didn't notice. But anyway i'm getting packet loss now, which im pretty sure is related to congestion at the link. :( I'm getting some packet loss now as well. Exetel increased their quotas today and I commented in another thread that some of us just want the congestion to go awa...

I noticed the problem an hour before I made that post, but it went away pretty much straight away after. So I'm not getting it anymore either. Weird occurrence.

Re: Packet loss

Same problem here! I don't usually get packet loss this early in the evening, it's not even the busiest period yet . Things must be really under provisioned. :( Ping statistics for 220.233.0.9: Packets: Sent = 32, Received = 26, Lost = 6 ( 18% loss ), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: M...

Re: Packet loss

Before I log a support ticket... Did you make any progress with this? I'm still getting the packet loss during evenings, weekend mornings, etc, i.e. all the usual "busy" times. Exetel support has been contacted many times but has failed to provide any serious response on this matter. As far as I'm ...

Re: Slow speeds on weekend mornings

This is painful. There shouldn't be any packet loss on my near-perfect line but the backhaul is always under-provisioned on weekend mornings, like the thread title says. It results in useless VOIP and Skype calls, slow browsing, and this: Ping statistics for 220.233.0.9: Packets: Sent = 125, Receive...

Re: Slow speeds on weekend mornings

The PowerTel NSW graph looks like it get congested during busy periods (it flattens out). This was already discussed on the Whirlpool forums weeks ago. But that's not a big deal, it's just a pretty graph after all. The real problem is that we do notice the congestion to the Exetel network during bus...

Re: Slow speeds on weekend mornings

Or Telstra need to increase their various backhauls, for example. If your exchange and its backhaul are congested, there's not a lot that Exetel can do. I don't think ADSL2 uses Telstra backhaul like ADSL1 does, so that's not really relevant. ADSL2 uses backhaul to/from the wholesaler (Optus/AAPT) ...

Re: Slow speeds on weekend mornings

Klaas is a customer ... like you I am totally aware of that...seems pretty obvious to me! His name isn't in green! I was agreeing with him, and the "you" was aimed at Exetel. I thought that was obvious since they're the only ones here with a network that could be upgraded. I certainly don't think t...

Re: Slow speeds on weekend mornings

I had the same problem too and did some searching on the forum i found this http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=226&t=33356 Apparently during the off peak hour Exetel contrains the download speed Only for P2P apps, as far as I'm aware, so why would that affect YouTube, etc? And why is web su...

Re: Packet loss

my service is starting to become almost unusable since I do a lot of VPN and SSH connections that time out at the most annoying times. Members in my household were asking why the VOIP phone wasn't working well today. They were making overseas phone calls at 11am. I just looked at my packet loss sta...

Re: Packet loss

See that 2nd hop in your screenshot (220.233.1.193), that is the culprit for me also! I imagine it is the PowerTel backhaul from their aggregation point to Exetel's network. It chokes whenever the network gets busy and starts dropping packets, and we can't even make it past that IP address reliably.

Re: Packet loss

Yep, I have raised a ticket. I will message you the ticket number.

I'm not sure if this is affecting all PowerTel users. Somehow I doubt it otherwise more noise would have been made. But there are definitely PowerTel users from all over the country that have the same problem.
