Re: SSH suddenly stopped working
I run my home ssh server on port 443 (actually I forward 443 from my router to 22 on my linux pc) because I find that many workplace firewalls block port 22/ssh outbound but they all allow port 443/https outbound. So, in general, port 443 is superior for an ssh server, unless of course you want to r...

Re: Optus per minute plans question
We need to watch our big B and little b Mart, the bits/bytes confusion only arises when people are discussing data speed (bytes/bits per second), not total data (bytes). E.g. when talking about download speed people may describe it as 1 MB/s or 1000 Mbps or even 1000 Mb/s. I agree that is an endles...

Re: Optus per minute plans question
I have been getting emails from exetel about porting my exetel vodafone service to an exetel optus service. So have I and after the first one I replied in email that the new per-min plans don't quote any rates for data which makes the email rather pointless. They replied and said the per-min data r...

Re: Email setup info for iphone
I won't go into the countless reasons why but by far the best way to set up an iphone or android phone is to use a google account and forward all your other email accounts to that (including your ISP account). Your google mail, contacts, and calendars will be seamlessly synced to the native phone ap...

Re: QLD drop outs
This is not any individual's problem! Read the thread. I suspect Exetel can suffer state-wide outages yet their systems are so poor they don't even know about it. Either that, or they don't care.CoreyPlover wrote: how else is Exetel to know that you have an issue with drop outs?

Re: QLD drop outs
The thought that crossed my mind was flooded or steamed up junction pits in the footpath. Only last Sunday night my connection dropped out for 30 to 50 mins or so at least twice between 5 to 8pm. Thing is, I posted about it on WP at the time and quite a few others around SE Qld experienced the same...

Re: QLD drop outs
Yep, I am in Brisbane and I have been experiencing these loss of connections also. How about posting some updates about why they are happening Mr. Exetel?
Excellent data JamesR. Those times match the outages I have seen.

Re: VoIP Server down
I really don't know whether the current Exetel SIP, or Billion ATAs, are fully compliant or not, but I do see that Billion ATAs (not routers), which are made to suit many markets, seem to have more VoIP configuration difficulties in Australia than any other brand - just search this forum or Whirlpo...

Re: VoIP Server down
Billion default used to be 3600 but now comes at 240 out of the box. It is kind of a moot point anyhow. I understand that the client side expiry time is only advisory. The sip server can choose to demand an alternative expiry which the client is obliged (by the sip standard) to adopt. Billion modem...

Re: VoIP Server down
try to change the sip register time to a longer period like 900 seconds. This advice has also been issued on the WP forums, also with no accompanying justification. Is this an official edict from Exetel that our ATA expiry time should be larger than the typical default which is 240 secs? I don't se...

Re: Can't receive VOIP Calls
For the last week or so I have been unable to receive incoming calls to my VOIP Number. I can make outgoing calls with any problem? For the last 2 weeks there have been many problems with Exetel's voip service, reported by many here and on the WP forums. E.g. see http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopi...

Re: VoIP Server down
Yes, retested ok. 121 works now also. Thanks, however Exetel needs to check their processes and respect the main status page. This is a serious fault that should not have waited for a fix in office hours.

Re: VoIP Server down
Rebooted router and ata then retested with no change. Still can not hear incoming caller, but he can hear me. Also can't dial 121 for mailbox - just get a long beep sound.jingt wrote: We have made changes on our VoIP servers.
Would you please kindly test your VoIP service again?
