Re: ADSL2+ on Telstra Exchanges

My exchange says it's enabled for ADSL2+ by Telstra only however I am connected via a RIM/CMUX which is approx. 400m away. The RIM/CMUX is 4km from the actual exchange.

Is this worth me pursuing an ADSL2 connection when they are up and running?

Re: Telstra Shaping changes

Unfortunately it does appear that you have fallen prey to Telstra's restriction to 3mbps. The good news is that when they remove it speds should improve, the not-so-good-news is we have no way of finding out when this is likely to be removed. Things seem to have improved as of this morning... http:...

Re: Telstra Shaping changes

First off, you need to be sure that your current speed of 2.5 mbps is in fact a shaped speed - my understanding is that the Telstra shaping was at 3 mbps. If you can post your modem stats, we may be able to estimate if you are capped, or if you are syncing at best speed. Sorry forgot to re-post, ha...

Telstra Shaping changes

Hi, Just reading on WP specifically this thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1358003 and this one http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1326131&p=5#r83 and the list provided in the aaNet sub forum shows that my exchange (OXEN) will finally be upgraded to remove sha...

Re: Pro-rata question...

Cheers.

Just more or less wanted to know from a budgeting point of view. So it depends on how generous they are feeling whether or not they pro-rata the data? If that makes sense.

Pro-rata question...

Hey, Just churned back to Exetel and I have a question regarding pro-rata from a time vs data perspective. I just signed up to the NF8192 plan and was connected about a week or so ago. I know billing rolls over to the start of every month so I wouldn't get charged for a whole month however I'm more ...

Thanks for the help/advice. I best do some investigating.

Re: No need for phone line rental?

Its portrait is right here - http://www.exetel.com.au/residential-hspa-compatibility.php If you have one of the hspa services, do a forum search on E71 and VoIP and you should be set. I don't have a hspa service or any sort of mobile service with Exetel. Does this mean that I can't use my home and/...

Re: No need for phone line rental?

Using Telstra Homeline Plus. If you hardly use your landline you should consider changing from Tel$tra Homeline Plus to Tel$tra Homeline Budget. Many people that are stuck on ADSL1 downgrade to Homeline Budget and use VoIP, I personally make use of VoIP through my Nokia E66 and my WiFi connection a...

Re: Change In Off Peak/Peak Times

One question though - If it is found (which it may very well not be) that the adjustment to a 2am start across the board does not alleviate the congestion at Midnight will the off-peak times be returned to 12 hours whether it be 2am to 2pm? Tedious, but it's a good idea to carefully read through th...

Re: No need for phone line rental?

You can use VoIP, but ADSL1 services do require an active land line connection. So is there a benefit for me to set-up Voip then if I still need line rental from Telstra? Depends on your calling habits, 10c to call Perth from Sydney as opposed to whatever prices Telstra charge. The equipment for Vo...

Re: No need for phone line rental?

Hi, I'm new to all this Voip/Naked/PSTN type banter which leads me to some questions. I will give a brief overview of my current set-up. On ADSL1 (cannot get ADSL2) running an 8Mbps connection which I can only get a max of 1.5 to 2.5Mbps out of. Using Telstra Homeline Plus. I use a Siemens SpeedStre...

Re: Change In Off Peak/Peak Times

Personally the reduction in off-peak usage hours doesn't really effect me however I think maybe next time, the Exetel hierarchy should withhold a plan upgrade (i.e. increase in data allowances AM or PM, extra SMS/Voip etc) for when they need to advise of a plan down grade this way it's a trade off t...
