Using Exetel HSPA SIM in Android

I tried taking my Exetel SIM out of my HSPA stick and inserting it into my new Optus pre-paid Android Huawei X1. My first attempt failed (but then I was new to the phone, new to Android too) I would like to know if others have tried their Exetel SIMs elsewhere - for data - with success. FWIW: My exe...

Re: Ambiguous login instructions

The mods have asked for simplification, but there always seems to be something more important for the coding staff. Thanks, Dazzled. Skills shortage, like the rest of this country. Strangely though, I don't quite think of Exetel quite like I do of any other telco. You know what? I can live with the...

Re: Ambiguous login instructions

Hmm, I have no trouble logging in at all.... The instructions seem clear enough to me. Klass, When you have made, as you have, 1800+ posts, you are probably no longer viewing the site as a newcomer does. Which, I'm afraid, means you should disqualify yourself from the task of predicting what users ...

Re: Latest software for Huawei E169 for Windows 7 or Mac OS

APN setting is done in the Optus Mobile Partner software. Thanks, Klaas I have also considered consigning my e169 to the drawer. Until then, I have plugged it into my Netcomm Mobile data router so Windows can connect to the net - wirelessly. For me, that's not a real solution. I spend much of my li...

Ambiguous login instructions

Hi all, I am taking advantage of this successful login to address the recurrent issue of failed logins. The reason is your own login field labels. To me they seem inconsistent and ambiguous. I am quite sure there is a method to your madness and that I would eventually understand if it is explained c...

Re: Latest software for Huawei E169 for Windows 7 or Mac OS

Thanks for that info. I wonder how many people tried it and found that it worked for them... a) The firmware update: while named, "e169update.exe," this fails - possibly because it is looking for an HSDPA *Card* and not a USB modem. b) *I* fail - because I am so unused to WIndows after years with Li...

Re: HSPA idles, then doesn't connect.

Exetel support phoned today. They checked reception in my area and the results of my successful & failed connections. They recommended that I set my connection to WCDMA only - and on the 900 band. So that's something prettty much like I'd come to expect to work However, I won't be doing anything bef...

Linux and E169 Modem [switching]?

[quote="JeremyP"]Typically your device drops down from HSPA to WCDMA/UMTS (3G) when the service is idle, but it should be within seconds (unless signal is poor or drops down to GPRS) that it connects back up at HSPA. My email to Residential Support: "I am having problems with my Huawei E169 modem an...

Re: Performance has become woeful

Your story makes me green with envy.
In Alice Springs, I can only get reception while other users are either at work, at school or asleep!

Any chance of Perl/Postgres?

If at all possible, I would like to use PostgreSQL/Perl for a personal website rather than MySQL-PHP. I've noted some server re-configurations over the years at http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.exetel.com.au The reason why I would like to move my current postgreSQL/Perl awa...
