Re: incoming calls not ringing

Do you have an extra port on your VOIP device? If so is it possible for you to try configuring it in your second port? Hi Himantha, Yes I do - a Netgear DG834GV .2 Have just tried to switch to port 2 but it ignores the entries when I REgister or Save. Also not sure what figures go where, but it won...

incoming calls not ringing

Hi people, The VOIP service seems to be working ok except for phone not ringing on incoming. I have switched the physical phone twice with no result. I can dial in to Exetel from Exetel and and leave a message ok, which forwards as email ok to my email system. It just won't ring. Cheers? Edit: See n...

Naked ok - voip nix MUST be a number: Netgear DG834GV.v2

Hi people, I HAVE had it working before! I added a MITRON ATA and seem to be in trouble since. The Mynetfone service and Mitron are working fine. (That's how I got here). I can't register the Netgear with Exetel for VOIP. (voip is working too, for the MNF ATA to work) It takes the data - pretends it...

Re: Need Exetel setup info for Netgear DG834GV.v2

Mynetfone has a help sheet at https://www.mynetfone.com.au/mynetfone/assets/media/support/downloads/netgear-dg834gv/config/DG834GV%20-%20Setup%20Guide.pdf - make the necessary alterations for Exetel's server. Hi Dazzled, Thanks for that, but I'm trying to register my Exetel account with the Netgear...

Need Exetel setup info for Netgear DG834GV.v2

Hi guys, I need this help as while playing with an ATA I now can't register with Exetel voip server. Remains "idle". Everything else is working - the Mitron ATA is actually running an old POTS external phone with a DIN, but I can't get the the Netgear (Exetel) to see my Telstra unit plugged in to it...

Re: To be clear on Account service issues

Hi people, Your contract makes explicit mention that Exetel can make changes to off-peak downloads at any time. In effect, these off-peak downloads are a "bonus", provided on top of your standard (peak time) quota. Other changes (like shaping, etc) are often done in ways where nothing is taken away...

Re: Drastic Speed Drop?

You beat me - I'm in Sydney, and get .65, (=650 kbps) upstream which is more than adequate for G.729 to use. THanks for your help, Dazzled, but now I'm more in the dark as to why I get such poor actual performance.... Think I'll have dinner and watch "Black Books" on my downloaded free time!...

Re: Drastic Speed Drop?

[quote="Dazzled"] Your modem status gives the maximum upstream rate you can achieve. In real life there are exchanges and backhaul to consider so you need something to time an upstream transmission to Brisbane or Sydney (since the VoIP proxy server is in Sydney). One possibility is http://speedtest....

To be clear on Account service issues

Hi people, Sudden changes always worry me - even if sometimes they seem for the better..... :-) My naked basic account is now radically different to the latest posting under sales and in the last company email. JUst to be clear: The supply contract *is* pretty wide open, so at what point do changes ...

Re: Drastic Speed Drop?

Since VoIP is two-way traffic, and ADSL is slower upstream than downstream, VoIP packets over ADSL are limited by the upstream speed. The codec used determines the number of packets needed for each minute of sound, and so the bit rate, and you can look this up at https://www.exetel.com.au/members/v...

Re: Drastic Speed Drop?

Hi guys, I have diligently read all the posts here on this subject and am more confused than ever: I have even added/changed equipment, tested at different times and have extremely inconsistent results. I can rule out equipment my end - some days I get very good speeds, most very poor and before noo...

Re: Drastic Speed Drop?

Howdy, Well, my speed drops have been quite drastic recently and quite often well below 1M for long periods. I've also had extreme problems with VOIP. I've added a mynetfone backup with a Mitron ADA and it is even worse. The VOIP side is as important to me as Webbing. I don't have any need for major...

Re: ADSL2 Plan Changes

Greetings all, What would be nice is to keep my option to pay 50 cents a Gigabyte on my little account if I go over the limit. I don't even do that now - but it was nice to have as a backup. BTW: My actual account details have not changed as of 5 mins ago, either. Just got an Electricity bill that h...

Re: SUPPORT - HELP ME! Please see message....

Hi Corey, Thanks for the VALUABLE additional info! Hope I won't need it.... Cheers! Himagain When there is a payment, usage or spam block in place on your account, Exetel leave you connected, but all traffic to external sites is intercepted and halted. *.exetel.com.au however is still accessible mea...
