Re: Secure VoIP
[We do not have a plan on moving on the Secure SIP anytime soon, as it would only be optimal if all the carriers would use Secure Sip. Exetel being a reseller of services, we have several suppliers who we can force to use Secure SIP and not the other suppliers. Maybe it wouldn't be optimal but it w...

Secure VoIP
Does Exetel support secure VoIP i.e. SIP over TLS and SRTP per-chance? Can we expect this anytime soon? BTW, fellow VoIPera if you have an old VoIP password you might consider having a new longer one generated since efficient brute force attacks can be mounted using GPUs in video cards. The password...
Re: forbidden
The DTMF issue has cleared up without changes on my part. REGISTERing still requires STUN enabled. Please test with CSipSimple and Telstra AIr. Even with STUN enabled, registration occasionally fails with forbidden. For example, I used the WIFi inside a pub and successfully registered, registration ...
Re: forbidden
I looked into my "forbidden" which has been happening to me for quite a while now. The workaround I discovered was to enable STUN in CSipSimple when NATs are involved and wait 20 mins or so for the SIP server to expire the lockout. It seems that Exetel's servers now object to private IP addresses in...

Re: Exetel MoIP
I said there isn't a port. No you said it wasn't compiled which suggested the me that only compilation was necessary. Give it another run on your desktop just to try it. I might do that just for old times sake, probably on Android though, but without free G.729 I'm unlikely to use it (with Exetel a...

Re: Exetel MoIP
I have some concerns about using Fring, perhaps some one can comment: From the Fring Partners FAQ: How does the fring SIP client route VoIP traffic? All fring client traffic is routed to the closest available fring server farm (fring has several farms around the world to ensure low latency and best ...

Re: Exetel MoIP
Where do you get the idea there is a Symbian port of Linphone? Or are you suggesting I port it myself? I had no idea the Linphone had moved to platforms beyond Linux. The last time I used it, it wasn't even a complete softphone if I recall correctly: there was no keypad for dialing and all the conta...

Re: Exetel MoIP
I'm a bit late to the party. I can't seem to find a link to the old S60 3rd Edition MoIP app. I see there is a link to Fring (which doesn't list my Nokia 6720 in the drop down but probably any S60 Rel. 3 phone will do) though. What's the difference between the two apps? Do they both support G.729? D...

Re: WI A - Thanks for the memories
I suspect some people would be inclined to stay if the service or an alternative were provisioned at a level similar to that of the Optus L3 offering, enabling you to offer a lower per-MB price. I would also welcome some commentary about why Optus wants to force people to their L3 product which pres...

Re: VoIP Plan decommissioning
I see the conversion for business users has happened now, so it may have just been that the information presented in member facilities was slow to update.

Re: VoIP Plan decommissioning
Has the migration of business users from the soon to be terminated residential plans to Business/Corporate VoIP happened as recently notified?
My member facilities still lists HSPA VOIP.

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel
Some people like to use separate phones to keep things simple. If you have multiple wired extensions and become sufficiently VoIP obsessed you can consider having your telephone wiring modified so that the ATA can be patched between the extensions and your exchange line. This is a good thing if you ...

Re: VoIP Plan decommissioning
I didn't know about the calling card service but it's no good for regional areas as the local call access numbers are only in the capital cities. The link ExetelVoice provided doesn't include any information about the callback number, which 'solves' the regional access problem albeit at a surcharge...

Re: Becoming a Voip customer with Exetel
If I'm having Voip only to make calls, will Exetel give me a new phone number in order to do this ? That's the only option Exetel permits at present and they do not permit CLI to be overridden with another number unless you are a business and can present an invoice showing the number. Since Exetel ...

Re: VoIP Plan decommissioning
It will workout cheaper to have fax duet put back on ($3/mth) & start using WinFax again, for the odd fax to be received. Did you remember to add in the cost to keep of keeping the PC running all month? I don't think fax duet is an option for those on Optus DSLAMs ... Not having duet would e...
