Acceptable speed for 8Mb service on congested exchange
In November last year I got an Exetel 8Mb service in my current rental. The service syncs at 8Mb, but the speed was always extremely variably, rarely hitting 600kB/s, sometimes sinking to 200kB/s, but usually hovering between 300-400kB/s. This is a far cry from my previous Exetel (Optus) ADSL2 which...

Re: Naked users forgotten?
Sorry if this has been covered, but this is a long thread. Is it possible for Exetel users who currently have Optus based ADSL2 with a bundled phone (ie non naked) to move onto these plans? I realise there is probably some incentive from Optus which precludes this, but it's worth asking. My father c...

Transferring DID from one account to another
Good Afternoon
I have an ADSL service and a HSPA service with Exetel on seperate accounts. I have a DID and VOIP pack on my ADSL account. I would like to move this service across onto my HSPA account.
Is this possible and if so, how should I go about it?
Thanks

Re: Off Peak Period Change
Anything I have no other choice but to 'manually' download that is of 'Bulk' (e.g. Steam Games) Have you considered using a program such as Netlimiter which allows you to throttle individual applications? Set steam to use 5kb/s during peak, and unlimited during off-peak. This way you can start the ...

Re: Report Broken Links/Failed Web Functions Here
The ADSL2 Residential Online Order Form is linking to the Inclusions with ADSL1 (Added Value) Broadband Plans page.
Apart from the obvious ADSL2 linking to a ADSL1 page issue, the linked page states that the plans offer free SMS and email2fax, which I don't believe are offered for ADSL2 NF plans.

Link from Ticket status to Helpdesk
Is it possible to change the ADSL Fault Status page to include a link to the Exetel Helpdesk page?
Something along the lines of "to view or add to a ticket please log into the Exetel Helpdesk."

Re: Change to AUP - Section (d)
Is the sending and receiving of emails affected? Is access to your on line banking affected? A simple text email using non Exetel mail server was sent and received in about a second. Online banking was responsive with Westpac, until I actually tried to login... "Online Banking will be unavailable o...

Just experienced my first VOIP call during the shaping pilot, it was terrible. Please exclude VOIP from the shaping.

Re: Change to AUP - Section (d)
I guess saying that you shouldn't be running critical services on a residential connection isn't so helpful at the moment. I also have HSPA with Exetel and 3 as a fallback if necessary, but I would rather have functional ADSL2, especially when the reason for it being non-functional is arbitrarily i...

Re: Change to AUP - Section (d)
It seems this morning I am one of the lucky people to have been chosen to particpate in the shaping trial. Before the AUP change was announced on the 16th I was averaging about 6GB per off-peak period. Since the AUP change was announced I have been averaging 600MB per off-peak period. I would have r...

Re: Latest UK Moves Against Copyright Breaches
"Principles only mean anything if you adhere to them when it is inconvenient to you personally" Looking at it pragmatically, how much good has Exetel (and before it Swiftel in its early days) done, eg: * reducing pricing models in the market, excess GBs firstly $6 when the standard was $50<=>$150, ...

Re: Latest UK Moves Against Copyright Breaches
Edmund Bourke once said: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I am as far from being a good man as it is possible to be in most senses of the word "good". I do understand that participating in 'evil' is not what I wish to do and I have tried to avoid doing ...

Re: Latest UK Moves Against Copyright Breaches
because I believe it is not Exetel's place to decide what I can and cannot do with my net connection. The provision of service is premised on the service not being used for any "illegal purposes". If a site is only, or substantially, set up for the purposes of infringing the legal rights of legitim...

Re: Latest UK Moves Against Copyright Breaches
Let me put it more bluntly. Why shouldn't Exetel 'null route' a site such as Pirate Bay which exists solely to provide copyright protected material to thieves? I guess it comes down to your motivation, is it legal or moral? Reading some of the coverage of the iiNet v AFACT case, the following comme...
