Re: Exetel ACK Scans

Thanks all. Understand about the exetel one; it happens once every 24 hrs. Router and wireless passwords are both "unusual" and non-default. As for what look like internal IPs, they are very strange. I don't actually allocate ip addresses in the 192.168.1.6 range. So it's not an internal machine. [D...

Exetel ACK Scans

Hi - wondering if I can get any advice about ACK scans in my router log. I have quite a few of these (over the last few days): [DOS Attack] : 2 [ACK Scan] packets detected in last 20 seconds, source ip [220.233.2.210]. Thursday, Mar 20,2014 16:59:23 [DOS Attack] : 1 [IP Spoof] packets detected in la...

Re: Email Hoax being circulated to Exetel users

More rubbish. This is via aol and internap. Is the SPF pass only the result of exetel forwarding the email? Does exetel use SPF when forwarding messages? Re: Cant order domains

Thanks all (Corey, Andrew and Janaka) All fixed. I note the solution was to, "Please enter your fax number with only the correct area code(ex:02-NSW). Do not include '61' in the beginning." Just be aware that the form comes pre-filled with 61 in the beginning! :? So it's not really intuitive. The sa...

Thanks Corey. Email is attached. I would assume any authorised person at Exetel would be able to access the appropriate info!

Cant order domains

Hi - I'm trying to order two domains (.org.au, and .net.au) for a not for profit organisation (I'm a director). I keep receiving a massage "Cannot order this domain for you. Please try another one...". Exetel Support (hosting@) have emailed asking me to send my user account details as well as my acc...

Outlook Mobile Service Account for OL10

Hi, wondering if this might be what I'm looking for? Otherwise I have to go to a third part SMS retailer. I'm trying to configure the Outlook Mobile Service Account (File |Options | Mobile | Calendar Summary Settings...) on OL 2010 to send a summary of my daily schedule to a mobile device. Also from...

Ahh, bugger. My bad. They've just spoofed helpdesk1 in the From portion. The reply-to is to a microsoft live account.

Anyway. Got to stay vigilant against these sort of social engineering attacks.

;-) Yep. I almost made a comment that "After all, Exetel wouldn't make those sort of spelling mistakes!"

Beware of new PHISHING scam claiming to be EXEMAIL HELPDESK

The following is obviously a PHISHING scam  . Someone has opened (stupid) or hacked an exemail account called helpdesk1. Could the ADMINs check out and terminate that account if it's being used inappropriately. Thanks Gondy X-Symantec-TimeoutProtection: 0 Return-path: <helpdesk1@exemail.com.au...

Re: Usage meter seemingly out

Funny how so many people were independently checking their usage meters. You've got to feel for those people that don't contemplate that it might be an error, or that don't check the forums. There will be some very worried users out there!

Re: Usage meter seemingly out

Talk about getting a shock! I thought I'd have a quick squz at my mini Exetel usage meter and it showed an estimated $250 excess use charge. I then checked my account and found I'd downloaded 111Gb in offpeak yesterday and 22Gb in peak! :P No duplication of the 24th, but some very large numbers :!: ...

Re: Incoming Connections to 192.168.1.99

Thanks for the responses, I know 192... is a local address but this is how it's reported in the SysLog: http://home.exetel.com.au/edwards//router2.png In the message field it shows the number of hours the modem's been up, ie 4hrs 58 mins 26 sec, that a rule has been enforced in this case rule 0:2 an...

Incoming Connections to 192.168.1.99

Hey all - I've got a Draytek ADSL modem/router (brilliant unit) and have noticed connections coming in via the syslog to 192.168.1.99 on various ports but mostly from a previously closed P2P port. The router supposedly can go from x.x.1.10 to x.x.1.255 but only 1.10 - 1.14 are being used. There's no...
