Re: Spend Threshold Setup

Wow. This is killing me. I'm at the other end for now where such a low threshold is making the service completely unusable. (I'm on of those people with the insane $3K+/month bill). Now after every international call I make, or worse, when I'm roaming, I exceed the threshold. $100 is maybe 30 minute...

Re: You want twice for less?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a good deal for heavier users. From what I can tell, going from V49 to the largest new plan I save $10, if I'm under all spend limits. Otherwise we are worse off (but not relative to other offerings). Other plusses is that for a traveller (me) global roaming looks...

Re: DNS Fails intermittently

So far it is better across 58.96.1.28, 220.233.0.[34] - with 220.233.0.4 looking pretty good. I see hot cache hits at 33ms over adsl, with an upper limit of around 700ms. I'll keep testing before I commit this to my modem. Do all customers really need to reset their modem (why???)? I heard many neig...

Re: Exetel MoIP Symbian / iPhone / Windows Mobile / Android

do you have 'firewall' on or off in the settings menu of the MoIP app? It was set to off. Just set it to on and tried calling some numbers over both 3G and wifi....still get a disconnected message on my screen after 3 or so rings at my end. The phones I call still aren't ringing at all. Perhaps rel...

Re: Exetel MoIP Symbian / iPhone / Windows Mobile / Android

I use my contacts list extensively and set up all numbers with international dialling so that when I'm travelling mobile dialling-out works. Unfortunately 1. Does not appear to support international dialling. Eg. +61280030000 2. For some of my contacts it consistently returns the wrong matching numb...

Re: ADSL2 Plan Changes

Sorry but shaping sucks. Lack of shaping was one of the main reasons I choose Exetel. I want to pay for my excess usage, thank you.

Re: Meucci Solutions - Nuisance Calls

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but surely you can block access to 5060 from everyone but those known external VoIP servers that you connect to? That is, you probably only need to allow access from Exetel's VoIP server. Or are you allowing people to connect directly via SIP?

Re: Exetel Dashboard Widget

I've been using this app for some time. Great to see an update. I upgraded but the new widget does not let me configure it - the (i) symbol does not show up when I mouse over the app. It appears unresponsive and does not show up any useful date. Any ideas? I'm running OSX 1.5.6. Thanks You may need...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

Exetel passed my parent-test already. They've been connected with Exetel for a year or two, managed to upgrade to ASDL2 themselves, connect VOIP and even use the SMS facility. I'd argue for pensioners and retired people that the VOIP and SMS facilities are absolutely a must! They are what allow ever...

Re: Exetel sip on N95 will not process a call begining with +61x

"it should know what to do when I dial only 8 digits" - Exetel has customers outside of NSW also, so it should be configured to only route calls with the full FNN. Dial plans exist in softphones and ATAs for exactly this purpose - to ensure your dialling is turned to the correct format. Sure it doe...

Re: Exetel sip on N95 will not process a call begining with +61x

I agree. It is frustrating that our provider doesn't stick these rules in their server as each sip client shouldn't need to have this level of detail in their dialplans. This applies to all rules really - if I've purchased a Sydney number, it should know what to do when I dial only 8 digits. I'd be ...

Re: voip traffic structure from Exetel

Hi Eric, Given that you can get a call to read the dial plan in that context, I'd suggest your next task is to read up on how to write dial plans. Perhaps start here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+introduction and take a close look at dial plans. Another thing, are the dial plan rules ...

Re: voip traffic structure from Exetel

What fudging do you mean? You need to make sure that 1/ sip.conf 'register' line points to a valid local extension (and/or your default 'context' is set correctly) 2/ the local extension exists in sip.conf and has the right context set, 3/ that the context exists in extensions.conf, 4/ in that conte...
