Re: DNS Settings

What ShaminG and I are saying is not at cross purposes - you have a working Exetel DNS setup (so no harm done), but it should be possible for your modem to over-ride the IP supplied at authentication if you choose that option. You can also change the name servers in your computer config. By default...

Re: DNS Settings

There isn't a modem issue at all. It's a little bit of networking. kolanut2 and kolanut3 are the machine names. Your modem obtains the best path for a name server. Try traceroute, dig -x and host for the picture. Thank-you! that is what I wanted to hear, the staff at your help desk kept implying th...

Re: DNS Settings

My Draytek 2800 is the one that show 58.96.1.28 in the status once connected. If I reboot the modem it shows 220.233.0.4 until a connection is made then changes to 58.96.1.28, the settings in the modem do not change. When I use my Belkin F1P1242EGau modem the status indicates correct DNS, but if I t...

Re: DNS Settings

I guessed that it was an Exetel DNS because everything is working, but why doesn't it go to 220.233.0.4 as set in the modem? Is everybody re-directed to 58.96.1.28 but not made aware of it? Should I be setting 58.96.1.28 as my primary DNS? Do I just ignore what is happening? because Exetel can not e...

DNS Settings

Although my DNS settings in my modem are: Primary 220.233.0.4 Secondary 220.233.0.3 once connected the modem status shows primary DNS 58.96.1.28 Why is this so?
I tried my other modem which can be set to obtain DNS settings automatically and 58.96.1.28 appeared in its primary setting.

I am so sorry about that.
I have been advised all should definitely be working...do you think you could try it again?
Yes, it now works ok, thank-you.

Re: Wireless Internet Included In ADSL Plan Prices

I have been trying to switch plans for the last 3 days to 1500AW, all seems ok until I hit the submit button then I get a blank screen with the menu still down the side, so I don't know if my application has gone through or not. I have tried several times with the same result. I normally use Chrome...

Re: Wireless Internet Included In ADSL Plan Prices

I have been waiting until the 1st of June for Exetel to release these new Wireless options for members so I could apply for a SIM card. After reading the newsletter advising that the option was now available, I searched through the users facility but couldn't find the option anywhere, I then emailed...

Re: Wireless Internet Included In ADSL Plan Prices

This would be a great benefit to existing users as a back-up to ADSL and for use when away from home. I have been looking a different plans and providers recently to see how I could set myself up cheaply for infrequent use, and Exetel's $5/month plan seems to be the most suitable. But as an existing...

Re: Outgoing Calls no Longer Work

My daughter also lives in Perth and her VOIP has failed as well, it appears to have happened on the 13/10/09 as it was working fine on the 12th I installed the PAP2 on one of my visits. All LED indications show that it should be ok. I have asked her to restart everything after a 20 min switch off bu...

Re: Pensioner Broadband Plans?

What a great idea! If Exetel did this it would be an excellent community service. "Tad Aust" already offer this service to all pensioners and I have referred a number of friends to their service for "Dial up" What most pensioners are looking for is low monthly cost, so a capped plan with a small dow...
