VOIP costs using Android softphone overseas

Hi, Just a query re: the costs of making a VOIP call using a softphone on my mobile handset. I will be travelling overseas in the near future and would like to stay in contact by ringing family and friends via my VOIP account. I would be connecting via hotel wifi using SIPDroid. SIPDroid has been se...

Incorrect plan price shown on screen in member services

I have just applied to change my current naked plan to a current full service plan. The current (naked) plan price on the application screen was incorrect (please see attachment). While not an issue per se it did confuse me such that I cancelled the application to confirm my plan price on my last in...

Data services on new OPTUS service

I have just converted over from the old Vodafone service to the current Optus services. I can't say I have found it an improvement. Of particular note the quality of data access is significantly poorer. Under my old Vodafone service I could access my emails within a 20-30 seconds. Now access often t...

Options to amalgamate HSDPA plan and Vodafone replacement

I currently have a Exetel supplied HSDPA plan (WM-C product) and two soon to be ended Vodafone plans. Having looked at the options I am wondering if there is an opportunity to change my HSDPA number over to a standard Optus plan and port over my old vodafone number to the old HSDPA SIM card thus ess...

Re: RIP Vodafone (Mobile 1 and related plans)

We are also implementing a data bolt-on this week, which should lower the effective data rate to around 5c per MB. (we believe this has been a point of resistance for migrating Exetel via Vodafone customers.) Please keep your eye on updates to this page. If this eventuates I think we are finally on...

Re: Exetel/Vodafone Services End On June 30th 2011

Since we began offering mobile services via Optus the majority of our Vodafone service customers have transferred to our Optus/Exetel plans but some 3,000 customers have not done that. Over the past few days we have put in many hours to come up with an offer that is 'impossible to refuse' I would j...

RIP Vodafone (Mobile 1 and related plans)

Well unsuprisingly all vodafone based mobile plans will soon be leaving us. I received a new round of emails from Exetel stating that as of 1st July my Mobile 1 plan will no longer be available. Well Ok such is life! But I am a bit suprised that they have created a NEW Optus plans to make it worthwh...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

I spoke with the residential sales section over the phone today and received an email at home. They contain essentially the same message but differ in the details. It is agreed in both the email and on the phone that Mobile 1 plans will continue next month provided you have a minimum spend. BUT the ...

Re: Mobile 1 plan change

Very interesting! I to have 2 mobile services and in both cases I got the offer saying you can save money by going to OPTUS. After doing my own analysis I decided that no my current Vodafone plan was better as my average monthy spend across 2 mobiles is less than 1 CAP plan minimum spend. And the pe...

VOIP advert email

I received an email today entitled 'New VoIP Savings from Exetel'. I must say I found it a little unusual as none of the plans in the email exist on the Exetel public website except for one. On the other hand all the listed VOIP plans in the email can be chosen from member facilities. I assume this ...

Re: Help need on setting up Exetel Access point

To cut a long and technical description short it is not possible to use the exetel1 apn from within the phone. I believe that Optus does not allow resellers to provide data access via handset. The exetel1 apn only works via a tethered handset where the apn control is maintained by software on the co...
