Re: ADSL data usage comparison

300MB per hour only equates to 0.6Mb/s - you would hardly notice it but over time it racks up to a fair chuck of data. I have seen other situations where media streaming services continue streaming to you even though nothing is listening. Changing your IP address is simple and pretty much immediate....

Re: ADSL data usage comparison

Something else to be aware off is that upload data includes all data directed to your IP address even if it was not requested or received by a machine on your network. I had a massive spike in data usage a few months ago which turned out to be Chinese hackers attacking my Asterisk server with hundre...

Re: Broadcom Chipset Modem Test Results

I have an old D-Link DSL-502T which uses the GlobeSpan GS7070 chipset. The BPT, QLN and SNR numbers are available by telneting in and looking in /proc/avalanche. The data does however need a bit of trickery pokery to get it in a readable format for gnuplot.

Re: Broadcom Chipset Modem Test Results

Check out DSLStats http://www.s446074245.websitehome.co.uk/ DSLstats is a DSL monitoring program for Linux and Windows. The purpose of this program is to monitor the state of an ADSL or VDSL2 connection. It works with DSL routers using Broadcom chipsets which have a fully functional telnet interface...

Re: New website glitches

The 'Forgot Password' link on the login page for the Member's Area doesn't work. Clicking on it does nothing.

It's the https://www.exetel.com.au/myexetel/login page, not the http://www.exetel.com.au/my_exetel.php page.

Re: Change Plan vs New Customer Pricing

Could exetel at least waive the $20 change plan fee for customers on older plans? It would be some recompense for being charged double what new customers pay for the same quota.

Re: New website glitches

Wow, what a dog's breakfast of a web site. For a company celebrating 10 years in the industry, this is atrocious. There are so many issues from every prospective - technical, usability, and content. HTML is designed to be inherently browser and screen agnostic - the client does the rendering to suit...

Transfer of Domain Hosting

I've recently moved interstate and, in order to remain with Exetel, I created a new service for the new address. I had a number of hositing services with Exetel which were successfully transferred from the old service to the new service. However, two domains that I have registered and hosted by Exet...

Moving house

I am about to move house and would like to stay with Exetel on the T20-2 plan and simplify things by having the phone line through Exetel as well. If I order as a new member I can select the "I don't have an active telephone number and would like a new telephone number from Exetel" option and Exetel...

Calls to Telstra's service number are Call Restricted

I am trying to call Telstra's service number, 125 8880, from my VoIP service but I keep getting the message 'The number you have called is call restricted'. What does this mean? Who is restricting the call and why?
