Instructions about getting faults fixed is wrong

In the post The Fastest Way to Fix a Problem it says for non-working service faults to dial the Exetel Sydney number and press '1'. Pressing '1' sends you off to Sales. You actually need to press '2' to go to Technical Assistance.

Re: IPV6 - the end of unmetered content?

[given that there is a cost regardless perhaps IPv6 is being used to rationalise (or explain away) the shift away from these 'free' included data traps that some ISP's have set for themselves over the years and make it a gradual transition Given the takeup of IPv6 is anticipated to take the best pa...

Re: Three Months Free ADSL

As an existing customer, I just received an email offering me 2 months free ADSL2+ and zero transfer cost if I transferred to an Exetel Optus plan.

The annoying thing is that I have already tried to transfer to an Exetel Optus plan but can't because Optus doesn't service my exchange.

Re: Changing from Powertel to Optus equipment

If you are looking forward to a government monopoly you haven't been around long enough to remember the last time. It is the multiple providers versus the privatised PMG that have lowered the prices. I'd go for competition myself, even if it's complicated sometimes. Yes, but it was a government mon...

Re: Changing from Powertel to Optus equipment

I am in exactly the same situation. I'm assuming the reason is that there are no free ports available, though www.adsl2exchanges.com.au doesn't even show Optus as having any presence in my exchange (MNSH).

As to the status of my change, its anyone's guess.

Re: Add AP to improve WiFi coverage

One thing to try with your existing second routers:

Check that the DHCP settings on the second routers has the default gateway set to the IP address of your first router. If it is set to the default (0.0.0.0) then your packets won't be going out the right port.

Re: Add AP to improve WiFi coverage

What you need is a Wireless Access Point (WAP) not another router. The problem is likely that the second router is trying to direct Internet traffic out its WAN port which isn't connected.

Get something like a NETGEAR WG602 54 Mbps Wireless Access Point or D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-2100AP

Re: Flash login page

I'll also complain that the flash login page doesn't work with any password safe programs - the ones that allow you to store super secure password and automatically fill in login credentials if you know the master password. I'm also amazed that an Internet company whose only presence is on the web h...

Re: Paid Web Hosting Database Management

Digging deeper into the forum I found an explanation from over 2 years ago. https://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=305&t=29673&p=226819&hilit=mysql#p226819 Basically, paid web hosting doesn't automatically come with mySQL access. You need to request it separately from hosting@exetel.com.au It w...

Paid Web Hosting Database Management

I've signed up for a paid website and have received the "Your website has now been configured for your use." email which has login details for ftp and webstats but nothing about database access. Am I right in assuming that the paid website hosting also comes with database access, just like the free ...

Re: ADSL2 Plan Changes

These changes only affect the latest released ADSL2 plans - some 1,000 customers. Then why did you send the email notifying the change to the 39,000 other customers who are not affected? All other ADSL2 plans remain the same....ADSL1 plans aren't affected either. When I receive an email saying "All...

Re: ADSL2 Plan Changes

They only apply to the newest plans. All of those plans will get peak upgrades. do you mean that the new changes only apply to the Z-plans not the old NF plans. Just the Z plans/what's on the website today; http://www.exetel.com.au/a_plan_pricing_adsl2_nf.php I do wish you guys would stop and think...

I liked the comment on the site:
Another nail in the coffin of free speech.
Well, only if you consider "free" to mean not being held responsible and accountable for what you say (and liable for the legal fees).

Re: VOIP multi lines?

VoIP is able to do what you want and a lot more. Send your query to corporatesales@exetel.com.au and they'll explain whats available. You may even be able to port your existing number to VoIP. ADSL through the fax line is probably the safest, particularly if you decide later on the cancel the five p...
