Re: Setting up home web/mail server
Any thing else i might need to know to get my mail server communicating with the outside world? Be aware that Exetel's IP address range was blacklisted on some antispam services which resulted in all your mail to some other ISPs (most notably Optus) being tagged as spam. It is best to configure you...

Re: Increase in Prices Of Some NF Plans
A valid complaint if you totally ignore the increase in quotas that occurred last month (but then people complained about that as well).khoaphamnguyen wrote:well, logically I expect the service (speed & support) will also increase along with this $5 increase

Re: Increase in Prices Of Some NF Plans
what exactly is this 'circumstances' that caused the increase? seeing as I'm given a 'take it or leave it' option, at the very least please give me a real explanation. John's Blog ( http://johnl.blogs.exetel.com.au/ ) gives some hints as to what went wrong with the planning. Even with the $5 increa...

Re: 2 DIDs on Asterisk server
The problem is that Exetel, like most VoIP service providers, doesn't distinguish which DID an incoming call originates from when establishing an incoming call with your Asterisk server. As Asterisk has no way of working out which trunk a call came in on, it has problems correctly routing the call t...

Re: Additional assistance - Billion
Note with the Billion routers: If you are hosting a web server, you will need to change the embedded web server port number as enabling external access will cause a clash with the virtual server rules for your hosted server. The port number is set at Configuration / Advanced / Device Management / HT...

I'm using a Billion 7402 so the ATA is built into the router and the RTP port is already set to 5100.

VoIP Dialling Problem
When making a call from my VoIP service I get the ringing tone on my phone and the called party's phone rings as it should. However, after 30 seconds the tone on my end changes to a busy tone but the called party's phone keeps ringing. If the called party answers the phone they hear nothing but I st...

Voicemail Menu Prompt Error
I've just notice an error in the voice mail menu prompts. In the Mailbox options menu, it says 'Press 4 to change your password' but pressing 4 changes your temporary greeting. You need to press 5 to change your password.

Call Connect
I noticed a new Call Connect facility on the Member Facilities. I'm assuming it is used to connect a call between any two numbers and have the call changes billed to your Exetel VoIP account. Is there any information as to how this works - which number rings first? Is the call charged if only one en...

Re: Major Changes To 'No Frills' Plans
Here is the plan matrix MKIII for a range of 'Peak' Download scenarios. Hope it does not need to be changed again for at least a month. Please note I have included assumed phone line rentals in the monthly fee costs. Once again, I hope it helps some to make an informed decision. http://img190.image...

Re: Windows Mobile 6.1/6.5 built in VoIP?
I've been struggling with the WM6.1 inbuilt VOIP client for some time and I can't get it to work either. Scouring the Internet has turned up many, many more people who can't get it to work than those who supposedly can.

Re: Content Filtering Trial
In Steve's blog he states that he doesn't know the details of the sites on the blacklist. How can you have a meaningful trial if you don't know what is and isn't being filtered. The vendor could easily just include a number of obscure sites (the worst of the worst) which are highly unlikely to be vi...

Re: Mobile Offerings From Exetel
One of the reasons I joined Exetel for mobile was the basis of the plans. No monthly cost with a fair usage cost. I detest the idea of minimum spend, feel caps are overrated and 'oblige' one to spend more. So my main request / suggestion is that you retain at least one low volume plan with reasonab...
