Re: Upgraded to DSL2+ modem, still getting DSL1 speeds

Yup, coding gain is 7.

Connect mode is ADSL.
Modulation is G.DMT

There is also a TX Attenuation field set to Bis_0DB (I've just changed it to DMT_0db, for minor speed improvements).
I seem to be peaking at about 4Mbps.

Re: Upgraded to DSL2+ modem, still getting DSL1 speeds

The only way I could get g.dmt was to set the connect mode to ADSL. (all other options, such as AnnexM, or ADSL2+ only give me g.dmt.bisplusauto). Doing so, gives me the following stats, and a speedtest of 4Mbps (the SnR ratio is much improved) : Upstream 768000 Downstream 5248000 Elapsed Time 0 day...

Re: Upgraded to DSL2+ modem, still getting DSL1 speeds

Hey again.

Just did an isolation test, and the results are the same.

Is there any more I can do on my end to be more speed ?
Or are we dealing with issues with the physical line now ?

Re: Upgraded to DSL2+ modem, still getting DSL1 speeds

Thanks !!!!!!! I think the stability profile was put there AGES ago when I was getting frequent dropouts. Reset the router, speedtest is showing 3600Kbps down, 600Kbps up. Much better. :D I'll try an isolation test tomorrow (feeling a tad lazy tonight !). These are my stats now : Upstream 752000 Dow...

Upgraded to DSL2+ modem, still getting DSL1 speeds

Hey all. I've just upgraded my router to a Billion 7401VGPR3 (having recently moved to a DSL2 plan), but my download speeds are still DSL1 levels. I've run ozspeedtest, and my download speeds are about 1500Kbps, uploads 500Kbps, which are firmly DSL1 speeds. (an interesting this I noticed, when the ...

ADSL2+ on a BiPAC 741GEv2

Hey all. I have the BiPAC 741GEv2 router (ADSL1 modem). I've just moved over to DSL2+, and until I get a new modem, I want to get the most out of the current router. I understand that a DSL1 modem SHOULD be able to handle 8Mb/s on a DSL2 line, but I'm currently getting the same speeds I was getting ...

Spam levels dropped off ?

Hey all.

Kind of a strange request, but for a while I was getting quite a bit of spam (I have no spam filtering), but of late, my spam levels have dropped off to almost nothing. Is there secret spam filtering going on the in the background, or am I just having a good week ?

Re: Usage meter seemingly out

It looks like its taken the entire usage for the month, and put it all on one day !
(essentially doubling the usage !)

I freaked out when i saw my usage at 200% !

Re: Possible New 'ADSL1' Plans For New Financial Year

I'm sticking with ADSL1 primarily as I don't want to change phone provider, and frankly, with the speeds dsl2 offers, I'll burn through my quota in a few days !!! Unless exetel start offering to ridiculous 200GB+ for $60/month plans (slight exaggeration), I'm happy where I am :) Oh, and I don't want...

The billing above 72 gb in the 12 midnight to 12 noon period will be activated from December 1st 2007. Lowering that threshold from 72 gb to 48 gb is being considered at a later stage for current plans but all new advertised plans will indicate the limit will be 48 gb. So basically, as of December ...

I was offline from Sunday morning (early AM), and only got back this morning.

I had no authentication a few days ago too, and between then, and this failure, my connection has been very flaky.

What's going on ?
