Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Is there a reputable company(s) that deal with such connections that i could contact? I looked around and it had something to do with ACMA qualification?

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Well, that phone call was unfortunately of no help. I've been told I need to hire a private technician to check up on my connection the MDF. I was told that the supplier doesn't have access to this connection and can only check on the network boundary point to the MDF. This where I am confused. Goin...

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Just tested the phones. The crackling noise still persists. Please note that the supplier technician who has attended to your service issue has confirmed to us that there is no issue with-in the infrastructure/network boundary point and or main distribution frame (MDF) What about from the network bo...

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

It seems that the tech that investigated could not find an issue with the Infrastructure, can you confirm if the issue is still persisting? I checked the line and could not notice any crackling on 2 instances yesterday. The internet connection however, is still dropping out and syncing lower than n...

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

I don't pay line rental. I'm on the OCV200 plan which is why I'm not sure who I am supposed to contact.

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

I've started to notice some static on the PSTN line. I plugged my phone directly into the wall socket and the static was intermittent. I'm guessing this is one of the reasons, if not the main reason that's causing my issues. Should I be logging a fault with Exetel or someone else?

Thanks

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Your question on interleaving has been responded to twice already. For some more details: In theory, the difference between interleaved and non-interleaved makes no difference in speed tests. What interleaving does is it improves error correction so that the likelihood of needing a retransmission o...

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Connection is now syncing at 6800/800. Ping to http://www.exetel.com.au is very volatile, ranging from 70 to 160.
Also noone has yet to answer my question about Interleaving. It's supposed to be on, so why is it off for me?

EDIT: Now back to READSL2 mode...

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Net is still dropping out, and it doesn't resync at 12000/800 after a dropout. Downstream SNR is still hovering around 9.

I am at uni at the moment, I'll monitor the service for a few days when I get home.

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

Speeds are fine, however dropouts are starting to happen. I can't help but think that this is due to Interleaving being off for my connection. My SNR Margin hovers 7-13db which is unusually low. Does Exetel have an option to somehow force interleaving on?

Re: Modem forcing READSL2 mode

My connection went back to normal for about 24hrs and has crawled back to READSL2. So my question is, based on this: http://exewiki.exetel.com.au/index.php?title=ADSL_2_Naked_-_Optus_Troubleshooting#Technician If my connection goes back to normal during the period when the technician comes over, wil...
